GM said the other day that he probably won't set the world on fire in the beginning but will end up a very good player for us. Sounds similar to the Simmonds situation. It took Simmo a season to settle in.

Of course GM may just be covering his arse.

From my obervations of training a few weeks ago he looked a little behind the play in terms of agility etc, but competed well. A little bit of Aaron James. Now before I get shot down - James looked terrific when he came to us I reckon - playing CHB - played a couple of excellent games.

Tough and an excellent addition to the lost. Not expecting him to be a superstar just yet, but a very solid presence and happy he's with us.

Wallace will get more out of him and improve in all areas... more consistantly too! Forward and back!! Hopefully he can step up to be a Hunter type player and have his kind of dominance at either end of the ground!

Tiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiivendale :thumbsu: :)

We would have the worst behind to goals ratio in the league:cool:
Myth- Greg Tivendale is a good kick, he looks like he kicks it good, it looks good in the air, but it doesn't hit the target

Our loss, Polly will be sensational for the Tiges.

He just needs to be played week in, week out in the same spot to gain his confidence. We weren't able to provide that for him.

I am really looking forward to seeing him go well, where ever that may be.

Dont be surprised if he lines up at CHF, has terrific hands

If he lines up at CHF, does that mean Shultz will go CHB? i imagine the forward line would read something like this then:

Pettifer, Polak(?), Bowden P
Brown, Richo, Kingsley

Most likely way off the mark, but i am curious to see how we line up. what do you think?

Polak can mark it, but isn't an accurate kick for goal
Much better to use his contested marking ability and reading of the play to be able to out mark the opponents CHF and let someone who can kick straight in Schulz take the forward post.

If Polak goes to CHF we truly have lost the plot. Think about it.

Tall forwards = richo, kingsley, schulz, hughes, mcguane, riewoldt, pattison, patrick bowden if needed, simmonds when resting.

Tall backs = gaspar, joel bowden, polak, thursfield, moore and hall

You take polak out of the backs, and that leaves us with an injury riddled veteran, a flanker playing out of position, an inexperienced player coming back from a knee injury, and two complete duds. Seriously guys, if polak can't play CHB or full back we are stuffed.

On the positive side, i can see all of our tall forwards making it as players, surely this means we'll have plenty to work with after richo retires, and a couple left over to trade.

schultz is preferred by TW in the back half and hughes & kingsley have been training there also?

P.Bowden played all year in the back half & mcguane plays there as well

by my count thats:

Backs: gaspar, thursfield, bowden 1 & 2, polak, schultz, mcguane, hall, moore possibly hughes, kingsley (11)

fwds: richo, pattison, simmons (ruck), riewoldt, possibly shultz, polak, kingsley (6)

Whilst schulz can play CHB he is much more effective up forward where he can play his natural game. Would be wasted at CHB. P.Bowden has never played the roll of tall back, only as floating half back, so you dont get that either. He has played the roll of tall forward just not last year. McGuane is a key forward... don't kid yourself, he is unaccountable, but its that liveliness, impatience and energy that makes him such a good forward prospect. Hughes is going to be our forwardline drawcard in years to come theres no way hes gonna be a long term backline prospect. Kingsley down back? Whatever you're smoking I want some.

Hughes will not play at CHB. He is serving time down there to learn the game like most forwards do at some stage. With an abundance of tall forwards it is not only essential but educational to have a young tall forward train down back for 3 months.

Don't worry about Hughes, he is still planned to be a CHF.
