Interested in polling the players we all think the Carlton Football Club with draft with pick 9 & 11 on draft night.
This is purely based on keeping our picks as they stand before draft night in hand with pick 9 & 11.
This isnt who do you think is the best kid in the draft. Its "who do you think we end up with using both picks"
At both these poll picks we dont need to match Dean until pick 15.

So we can pick a player and Dean? or we can choose 2x kids and go into deficit for Dean and Ison.
Picks are up to you

*Let me know if ive missed a player you may want that isnt in the list

Yes we do, in some form or another.

A better idea for a poll would be who along with Dean should we take.

Thanks for confirming that.

Edit: Actually I didn’t even see Harry Dean in the poll. Sorry.

While there is only a small chance the combination would eventuate, I have voted for Dean and Aidan Schubert, outside perhaps of CDT, Schubert is the best key forward prospect in the draft. There is a flukers chance picks will fall to give us such a package, but it would round off a spectacular trade period with a monumental return for our needs.

If Schubert is not available, I see the disposal and game sense of Lindsay as the next best option. I would not favour grabbing hybrids like Mitch Marsh when we have Kemp, Hayward and Moir in our ranks with forward/ruck O’Keeffe.

If Deans bid falls at 15, then Cumming & Hibbins-Hargreaves if available…
Highly unlikely we will go into deficit for Walker next year, so a trade for more points would be needed which i can’t see happening…
Key forwards in next year’s draft I’d be targeting…

What pick combo do we need for Walker? 9 for Dean, split 11 for a second in 2025 and future first. Get Ison with the second and 3 F1 picks next year for Cody+

Agree on Dean and Schubert combination.

Unlikely given our pick 11 will slide particularly if Dean is bid early. Likely to be in 15-20 range.

I’m not against Marsh in that range. I think the modern day game is going towards hybrid types and his production levels were high. Particularly against Vic country he kicked multiple goals on Dean.

The problem we've got is that there are a bunch of clubs with academy/fs options that might fall in that 20-40 range and too few "pick donor" clubs with picks in that range. There's going to be a heap of competition for those few picks.

So you've got in the top 10 or so:
GC: Uwland, Patterson
Bris: Annable
Car: Dean

Matching bids on these 4 will wipe out a heap of picks.

And then potential bids in the 20-35 range (picks later don't need points to match):
Car: Ison
Syd: King, Kyle, Carmichael
GC: Addinsall, Murray, Coulson
Bris: Waller
Ess: Sweid, El Achkar
Col: McCarthy
WCE: Williams
StK: Fincher
Freo: Whan

That's 14 players. Obviously not all will go that high, but the clubs above will be wanting to have some picks with points value in the case that they do. And because we've traded out our 2026 2nd and 3rd round picks, we have less bargaining power.

I have appreciated people laying out the scenarios because with F/S, Academies and point matching etc it’s all too complicated.

That said, if we can trade ahead of a Dean bid to get an extra quality kid (so two ~top-10-ish types, Dean being one) that would seem to make sense so long as we don’t have to give up crazy amounts to do it.

I like the idea of doing it “live” when we either know more about Dean bid and/or some particular player target is available.

We’ll draft Dean. And then I’d use pick 11 on Farrow. Has an accurate and penetrating left foot kick that can set play up from back line. They’re comparing him to Hayden Young and Dawson, who can move into the midfield down the track. Other option could be Dovaston to meet high pressure, small forward need.

I think many people will think I'll be reaching here, but I really like Louis Emmett. 200cm, Strong Mark, Gets off the Ground, Mobile, Pretty quick as a Leading Forward, More than capable Ruckman. Hands are wonderfully clean and he's not a beanpole which means get a couple of preseasons into him and he's good to go. He's the closest thing you're likely to find to TDK.

The other kid I like is Harley Barker. He'd be much further up the pecking order had he not done his ACL, but loosely reminds me of Brodie Smith.

I’d trade up ahead of a potential Dean bid. (* have 5/21 - same points) Take Xavier Taylor. Build our back six for future.

Plenty of draft assets available to ensure we have nough points for Dean and Ison.

Taylor, Dean and Ison would be obscene.

I really like Barker too, but probably more an option if we keep 9 and 11.

Like most I'm pretty enamoured with next year's draft...in an ideal world we swap 9 with pies F1 and 39, then offer 11 and 39 to ess for 21, 27 and 30

Much bigger fan of Marsh's mobility, work rate and read, can turn into anything still but isn't raw.

That's definitely a strategy if we can't trade up but it will be dotted amongst an Ison bid.

Oudshoorn-Bennier is another such name.
