Butcher - good prospect for many clubs, but not for us I don't think, highly rated but yet to play a game. I'm happy with Riewoldt Griffiths and Vickery up forward

Moore - Moore I see as a realistic and exciting prospect, brother of Kel Moore which can only be good if we do want him. High draft pick again, really talked up for his skills and versatility. I think he could slot in nicely on a half forward or half back flank and let players like Deledio go into the middle more.

Trengove - obviously been linked with us for a bit now, but after much though I don't want him, been watching him closely after all the talk and just doesn't do it for me. Would cost too much and doesn't look that great, his kicking is a real issue and we don't need any more dud kicks in defence.

Carlile - I would love to see Carlile for the tiges, really good defender who normally does very well on big opponents. Could really provide some structure down back. Looks better and better with names like Carile, Rance, Grimes... Really promising.

What are everyone else's thoughts on these guys? Would you like to see any or all of them in Richmond colours.

I wouldn't mind making many many trades after last month's performences.

The Idea that our forward line has no problems and we dont need to add to it is backwards thinking. The Hawks would have not picked Buudy and left Williams there. Jack has been great but that shouldn't stop us from trying to find someone better. Not saying Butcher is better.

Moore is the one I would be after. Silky player who can play HFF/Mid and is our best chance given Kelvin is a tiger.

WOuldn't come super cheap given he was a top 10 pick 2 years ago, but would be worth it.

Don't know enough about carlile to comment, I have seen him play obviously but never paid enough attention.

A big no to Trengove...expensive and not that good/overhyped.

Yes but we don't just have Jack. We have Jack, Vickery and Griff.

And it's more a matter of priorities.

Of course, you can never have too many good tall forwards, but if you have a real deficiency somewhere, you tend to try and fix that first.

We hav so many holes to fill and should b concentrating on the engine room first so midfield ruck priority this draft.

I don't think given Port's current situation, that it's the ideal breeding place for young guns. No one really wants to go there and it seems like everyone wants to leave. I believe Moore would flourish at Richmond (i know we are not that much better), but our history, atmosphere and supporters would really be a good thing for him. As I said before, really highly though of going into 08 draft, which is turning out to be a very good draft, and I think he would sit in our side very nicely and add some more flexibility, leaving Nahas and Deledio to stay in the middle more.

Do we honestly need another tall defender? Our midfield allows the ball to get there so often. The defence does a reasonable job when you looks at the pressure they're under. We have enough height, but we do have injuries too.

Rance-194
Mcguane-192
Astbury-195
Post-195
Grimes-193
Thursfield-192
Gourdis-193
Moore-190

We should be concentrating a heap more on getting a couple of ruckman and a couple of midfielders. That will ease the pressure on the defenders by 50%

I agree, we obviously need a ruckman, and we need a midfielder who is like Tuck, but who can kick, and is obviously young.

But out of the defenders you listed, I'd say McGuane, Gourdis, and Thursfield would be close to getting delisted at the end of the year. Post isn't showing much either.

Rance and Grimes look very promising, and I hope Moore can come back well after injury, Astbury is only a prospect.

Nason has no value and will most likely be delisted.

Would think it would have to be something like:

2nd round pick (33) and Daniel Connors + Angus Graham

However that deal would be the ideal trade for us and unlikely to happen. Can see Port letting him walk to the PSD first. More likely we trade:

1st rounder and Edwards for Moore and Ports second round pick

We seem to do alot of trades with Port with Farmer, Rodan, Shultz changing teams. I think Edwards + 2nd pick for Moore/Carlile would be good deal.

Lets be realistic...that is paying massive unders. Edwards an average player and a 2nd round pikc in a compromised draft that has no depth for a top 10 pick in a strong draft and a decent back.

The deal I proposed above is probably paying overs though. We have no players who we can trade of semi decent value.

Maybe Kelvin for Andrew lol

I quite like Mcguane. Gets a bad run in here. Very good 1 on 1. Honestly he would be lucky to turn it over by foot 10 times a season. I'm talking about 30-40m passes which miss their target. But this is more about composure. Long kicking is fine, short kicking sometimes nervous but 90% of the time he hits the target. He's no where near as bad as Richmond supporters make him out to be. We take him for granted. Still only 24 with improvement to come. Can overcome composure problems with more experience. I rate him, Rance and Grimes. While Post never gets the game time to show what he has but I like what I see. Once he gets his attack and effort to the right level he'll be a permanent player

Edwards is still young and has a a little bit of value. Port dont have alot of outside mids and could maybe go for that. I would rather Carlisle though.

Lol you just said he was a spud in the other thread. Now you are saying he is tradeable with a cruddy second round pick for a top ten pick 2 years out and a good back.

Make up your mind...

I dont think 2 for 1 deals r what we need in our position unless we get the 2 players .

Yes but which deficiency do we start with first, the ruck which can't get our mids the first use of the pill, the defence that has to continually repel the ball until they eventually succumb to the pressure and coff it up or the mids that dont have a defensive bone in them to switch to when we aren't attacking?

If come trade time we get an opportunity to get another tall forward then surely we cant pass on it just because we think we have it covered? What happens if Jack or Vicks cop a season ending injury and Griff is still struggling with shoulder issues? I would love to see us have a forward kicking a bag each week at VFL, it's called depth and puts pressure on those to hold their spots:thumbsu:
