Pfftttt it won’t happen.

Provide argument for win. Considering Ken refuses to man up at the contest, so why will we win?

Has anyone looked at our draw, I've gone from hoping for a 15 win season to not being able to see how we'll get to 10 wins. I have us 9-13 at best. Far out we've fallen a long way.

I did a ladder predictior last night (not the afl.com.au one)

There's every chance that we don't even make the 8 this year.

Troy Bond hates the crows. I know this because a half cut Shane Bond told me so in the Magarey Room after a game one night.

“He ****ing hates the crows mate. He’s Port through and through. HATES them...”

So it’s kind of funny he’s the crows representative on the trophy.

I’ve worked out what is missing.

Strength. Whether that be strength of character, resilience, winning the contest or strength of belief, there are too many players on our list that don’t have that vital aspect needed for combative sport.

There’s nothing wrong with being humble as long as you are strong. Superman is ****ing humble. But that humility has to come from a place of strength, not weakness or fear.

There’s nothing wrong with being defensive as long as it encourages counter attack.

Last week we saw who was up for the fight and who wasn’t.

This week, if we find what is missing, we win.

Confidence maybe? .... that eventually a gameplan based around sprinting thru' a minefield will bring a win
against an organised team. Probability says it's gunna happen and who knows if we bust our guts, stay out of each others way,
kick straight and get a fair go from the umps it might. Right now i'm close to not caring and I don't think i'm alone.

Apologies for being positive. There ain’t much around here right now.

we need to get behind the team.

Yeah, for some reason I’m feeling strangely confident about this game. We will address the contested ball issue you’d have to think. We’re a pretty good team when the balance is right and things can turn around pretty quickly. Just go and trawl back through the Richmond board to this time last year. They pretty much wanted Hardwick and half the team sent to the Russian Front.

That's the horrible part, how rusted on Port supporters like us are getting close to not caring. :(

It's such a foreign feeling, but it's there, and gradually been getting worse for the better part of 10 years now. We go into the big games expecting to be let down, no doubt brought on by the results of dozens of games in the latter part of the Choco era, all of MP's tenure, and except for a couple of seasons of Kern, being painfully obvious 10 minutes into the first qtr, and all that changes is the date on the calendar.

It seems my passion and the club have become commodities and right now I feel like we've been hijacked by well paid opportunists.
The kind that love the limelight but not the mud. Their ball is the microphone, their oval the tv screen and their loyalties fluid.
Modern world I s'pose.

I'm not the most positive person either when it comes to our team, but to start doing ladder predictions at this stage of the season is just ridiculous.

I look forward to your optimism each week Janus...
Re strength...
Please let me rephrase that.,,
Simply beat your man..
Whenever the ball came to Wanganeen I relaxed because he always beat his man ( and disposed of the ball successfully and fruitfully)

Just beat your man..
.. that is all...

Most numb I’ve ever felt going into a showdown. Literally lost interest.. between the state of our game and the insanity of this club even if we pull something out of our ass on the weekend this group can’t grind hard enough to win a flag.

I’m not saying it will happen, but these are the same sorts of criticisms Richmond fans had of their team up to around this time last year when things clicked into gear.

The last one of those statistical analysis things that I saw, where the run the season 20,000+ times, has us most likely to finish 9th.

I hear you. But as per the post in the podcast thread, they won their first 5, got smacked by Adelaide and lost the next 3 games by under a kick. With a bit of luck and tweaking they could well have been 8-1 before they famously got their shit together.

Whereas given the nature of our three losses so far, we should be praising Aaron Lord that Polec had the good sense to drift back and play last minute goalkeeper against the Lions.

Port can't win this one but a couple of things would be enjoyable to watch.
1. Contested marks down back. Dougal, Yonas, Hombsch and co need to clunk a few intercept marks. We are well down the list in contested marks down back. Mark it - don't punch the bloody thing!!
2. Marks inside 50 ... yes i know there has to be players inside 50 for it to work. I wanna see Dicko clunk and dunk a few.

Our only hope of winning is if Robbie plays a blinder and kicks 5 goals.
