"I always thought the Bombers were making a statement, but if the deal was right they would take it," Lloyd told Nine's The Trade Off.

"I was told today that they wanted a player from Hawthorn. A player who was established, and they didn't get that, so it had to be something significant.

"I don't know how to look at it. I can't sit here and say they did the right thing or not.

"The Bombers aren't going to play finals for a significant period of time. I still think they're a long way off.

"Some would say 'why not take the first rounders and rebuild yourself', but others will say those first rounders, they're not top 10 picks and you'd rather have your best player. That's what the Bombers landed on.

"The gap between Zach and the next best player (at Essendon) is so big. They didn't want to lose their best player, but he's going to take a long time to get over this.

Essendon as a club have to pull their head out of the sand and realize the 80’s and 90’s are over and they’re shit.
They have done themselves no favors by not taking this opportunity to start the ball rolling towards rebuilding there list.
The only time Merrett will be on the field on Grand Final day is if he’s getting pushed in a wheelchair to toss a coin.

The newly rebadged Adelaide University (University of Adelaide and University of South Australia merger created with $465m SA government taxpayer funding) have partnered with the Adelaide Crows to offer a new diploma in sports management from 2026 - to be delivered at the newly created " Adelaide Crows Institute of Sports Business" at the West Lakes HQ of the crows.

And the bonus? No ATAR required and two lucky participants will be given a chance to work with the crows full time - of which the Adelaide University is a sponsorship partner. Cost of enrolment/tuition? $22k for the 1 year course.

N.B. Port Power (est. 1996) supporters not encouraged to apply

I always thought Dodoro was the problem at Essendon at this time of year. Now it appears to be a cultural issue.

Pick 10, Pick 22, a 2026 first-round pick and Henry Hustwaite for a 30yo who doesn't want to be there and they said No.

Hey, Ford

Using this as a base what would Zak be worth in you opinion?

All this for a player who doesnt move the needle for them is interesting. They did this with Hately too. Form for going to the PSD. Classic crow behaviour that.
If you're Ah Chee are you not feeling a little undervalued? Why leave Brisbane now after crows are pulling this shit with him.

That offer of a 2026 and 2027 2nd rounder should have been easy for the Crows to say yes to.

If I was Achee I would be pissed they are making me risk the draft rather than just pay that.

Crows just embody the words of A. Vidmar - Pissants.

Why would Port fans apply when there is already this?

And this is seriously Adelaide University trying to play catch up with Flinders.

Failing to move on from the jacket waving Sheedy days has made them into sub standard football club.
Poor choices result in poor outcomes.

At least 4 first round picks and a first 22 player. And I would start at 5 first round picks.

Looks like an exact duplication - right down to the 2 career opportunities provided by the club on course completion.

In any case these are diploma/certificate courses at best that would surely be more cost effective provided via TAFE or vocational training providers instead of universities. But happy to admit that I don't have a frickin clue what the difference between a university or a TAFE is any more. They all seem to be fighting over providing similar vocational training courses and throwing millions of dollars marketing the shit out of it.

Nah **** Hawthorn. Why make them stronger, need a starting best 10 player in return plus at least a top 10 pick for that to go through.

Say if Port were getting Merrett, probably giving up Drew, Farrell or the likes plus a top 10 pick equivalent.

Why would Port be giving up a top ten pick for a 30 year old Seagull?

Anything Port Power can do, we can...copy
While thats the often the case, it wouldn't surprise me if this was more of a "Anything Flinders can do, we can copy" from Adelaide University.

After all, even the merger was because University of Adelaide was desperate. It had the prestige but Super TAFE had the international students, and the record of actually getting jobs for graduates... And Super TAFE now gets to pretend that its prestigious as well as a member of the Group of 8.

Yes and we are with Flinders Uni, the older esteemed establishment now :)

Absolutely deplorable business from Essendon.

At 30yo you’re looking towards the sunset of your career

Who knows what those picks might have netted them, even though the draft is shit, I’m sure they’d find some upgrades on the trash they have on their list atm

And they blew it

Shocking list decision

Manager said he would get to Adelaide through the PSD.

Did he mean Adelaide, or “Adelaide”? ;)
If we have salary cap room for ahchee we might as well pick him he would be handy. A draft is a draft.

Yes, a university originally intended to become merely the southern campus of the University of Adelaide but established as a separate university in 1965 by the then state Labor Government to break the monopoly hold of the elitist establishment aligned University of Adelaide over South Australian tertiary education.

So in my view the fit between us and Flinders Uni is perfect in historical terms.

Won't happen.

But that doesn't stop the joy of thinking that it could - just for the vision of the rabid response that would be generated from John Olsen to Graham Cornes to Mike Smithson to Cossie Costello and every other pissant, lick-spittle, media monkey and corporate hangers on who've been riding the crows for premiers bandwagon the past 12 months.
