Not sure if it would be a good idea, but would anyone oppose to a state of origin game at the end of the year after the grand final?

Kinda helps with the issue of injuries if the players have longer to recover, skills might be better and not as rusty.

I could see it being less popular as people might be burnt out after the season.

Players would all be 20 beers deep on some tropical island somewhere. They aren’t sticking around for an exhibition game.

Forcing them into post-season representative games could result in players like Jack Watts having to go without swimming. And ****.

That's not a world I want to live in.

Where's Papa G when we need him?

AFLW is a brilliant sport to watch. The players are highly skilled and deserve to be paid more. Also the players are really attractive.

I've never been a fan of pregnant women in sundresses and Mitre 10 has hotter women than Bunnings.

Or if there’s a pre GF break, a SOO team made up of players the teams who didn’t make it.
Maybe leave out PF losing teams.

They really should get the same amount as those in AFLM

Players don't want it. Its holiday time.

Explosive files on a laptop threaten to expose several current and former AFL footballers, celebrities and high-profile corporate figures in a major drugs and sex scandal. An examination of the device, which has been seized as part of a workplace legal battle, has unexpectedly unearthed X-rated images, sex tapes, images of drug use and suspicious banking records. “There would be a lot of people sweating on this,” said one source, who has witnessed the materials. “The individuals involved would be surprising to many. These are people who are known in the community and would see their reputation affected if any of these files were made public.”

They include several well-known people – both officials and players – from multiple AFL clubs. The hard drive has been found to contain one image of celebrities gathered around a dusty black table with crystal substances piled on top. In another photograph, seen by the Herald Sun, a nationally admired sportsman is captured with a yellow-tinged, crystal substance that resembles the narcotic MDMA in his mouth. There are also images showing white powder.

Yet another photograph shows a well-known married business leader in a high-priced hotel room holding a scantily clad woman. The laptop also contains graphic, homemade sex videos involving prominent Melburnians. The owner of the laptop also kept extensive records – including images – of sex workers and high-profile women who he appears to have hosted at parties in Melbourne. Phone records reveal he was in a romantic relationship with a footy WAG who helped him procure other women for sex with other members of his coterie. The Herald Sun is unable to provide further detail of the contents of the laptop for legal reasons.

Just a reminder that SPP was effectively banned for two months for standing near a woman in a nightclub .

Given what you can purportedly do with AI these days, is it worth treating these claims with a degree of scepticism until/if they are proven legitimate?

Just askin’.

After reading "The Boys Club" by Michael Warner, nothing surprises me with the AFL.

Has the broadcast guide been released and I missed it? Looked on the interwebs and could not find anything.

I need to know if I need Kayo or not for the beginning of the season.

diversity is a good thing and it isn't always "inclusion policies" when a person of a different race or gender gets a job ahead of you

women's sports being encouraged more is a good thing for society

women don't particularly care if fat middle aged ugly blokes think they're hot or not.

Err, ok.

AFL's State of Origin on Saturday night has been given a bath in the ratings by its rugby league equivalent.
The Victoria v Western Australia game drew ratings of 1.98 million viewers on Seven.
But that doesn't even come close to the final league Origin game last season, which attracted 5.66 million viewers on Channel 9 in early July.

That's Channel Nine which owns the NRL FTA rights baiting the Seven Network which owns the AFL FTA rights and comparing apples with oranges.

The weekend's AFL game was an exhibition match held out of season. Nothing was on the line.

Comparing the ratings for that with the deciding State of Origin match QldvNSW with a rich history in the middle of the NRL season is click bait bs.

Weitering is now rated as a "good chance" for Round Zero - just a cracked rib. Be ironic if our man Georgie doesn't come up for R1 a week later.
About that contest.

Anyone else notice that Weitering didn't get more than 6cm off the ground and plowed into the back of Georgiadis who was well above a metre off the ground and making a genuine marking attempt?

Not saying it was intentional. Just poor defensive technique coming in as the third player like that. And there was a real risk to Georgiades of suffering a serious injury. Thankfully no serious injury to any of them.
