Don't blame Ken for that one. That was Parker pumped up by Robbie Gray and Anthony Parkin going to watch Joe Berry so often that they missed Reid. They traded up to make sure Freo didn't get Berry.
Ok....thinking...

Nah, Ken was the head coach and had final say. The buck stopped with him.

I'm pretty sure it was Chad who said on radio that it was Ken who wanted Berry.

No it doesn't. Parker and Cripps should have the last word. They are the list builders.

Yep. Back in August. Said that Hinkley took the lead in wanting to bring him to Port.

Will try and find link later. Don't think he's a spud by the way. Just saying the obvious that we missed a star in Reid and Hinkley talking about him as he was just a spectator to him going to Freo is laughable.

He’s looks spuddy to me, I hope I’m wrong.

I got Anthony Parkin wrong - it was Brett Anderson who went up country and watched Berry with Robbie Gray.

Parker on Berry and trading up for him

Parker confirmed more than a couple of clubs had pressed for the Eagles' pick, with list manager Jason Cripps managing to orchestrate the deal in time. "We had some information, there might be one or two (other clubs interested) and then we found out it was probably a lot more than one and two," Parker added.

Reid was the Vic Metro MVP at the u18s. So he had the performance as well as the obvious freakish skill.

I think he had 30 and 3 against the SA team

He was so good that teams started looking for reasons not to pick him i.e. too slow, too small for a midfield role.

You would think the benefit of Robbie in recruiting is that we pick these players, especially when they slide so far

That's what happens.

He plays for Vic Metro and Sandy and has a whole heap of games to watch. Recruiters think he's awesome but after a while they start to pick apart his weaknesses and you forget about his strengths and he drops for no good reason. He was awesome in those state games. I started to rewatch them but only got half way through when I just couldn't handle it because he was so good.

IIRC Berry didn't have great reps game.

I did chuckle at some of the ‘Nicks < Hinkley’ takes I’ve seen.

Apparently Ken made a purse out of a sow’s ear for a dozen years, but Nicks is catastrophically failing with blanket studs on every line.

McAndrew is going well, weird target that one. ROB and Jones on the other hand lol

Watching the Port Melbourne v Swans VFL game at North Port Oval on Fox footy before the Port game and see lots of CFMEU signs all over the ground. Given MUA is a division of the CFMEU these days and given the close relationship Port Melbourne have with the wharfies it makes sense

Double checked and the ground's commercial name, and is ETU Stadium - Electrical Trades Union. I assume that as they are brother unions they get a good rate.

I wonder if the pants pissing image conscious AFL would let Alberton Oval or another oval that they have given $5m to, to be done up so that AFLW has broadcast quality lights and high standard AFLW facilities, allow CFMEU signs all over these ground.

Yup, they’ll take money from the likes of Santos, GFG and the Chinese Government, but somehow unions aren’t a good image.

The AFL has created a massive 2 speed competition
Honestly would be cool to have two divisions. Something real to play for (promotion) rather than waiting around to die in midtable oblivion.

Could even have the top 2 of div 2 qualify for an actual wildcard round against 5 and 6 in div 1. Then 3-6 in div two play off for the third promotion spot.
