So the accuser may not have been lying, but no witness to back it up?
No. The accuser lied, who then got a 'witness' to lie. Throw the book at them.

“It was a case where the evidence in the early stages of the committal revealed that when it came to these allegations of rape and sexual assault, the complainant had admitted that she had lied,” Mr Dann said.

“It was a case where another prosecution witness admitted in his evidence that he told lies to police and told lies in the court.

“It was a case where that same prosecution witness admitted in his evidence, it was the complainant who had told him to lie.”

I would rather have 2 divisions
Top 9 play each other twice
Bottom 9 play each other twice
Bottom 2 from division 1 get demoted
Top 2 get promoted.
We have 2 final series with final based on SANFL structure.
1 grand final at the MCG the other in another state
That would give the AFL 40 plus games over the season.
The players would have a shorter season.
The draft stays the same

I love the idea but it would never happen, the game is governed to milk as much coin from the population as possible.

It isn't run to be fair and even for all clubs. And they have no though process past making money and getting paid big bonuses.

Edit- let me clarify this by stating that 2 divisions will probably remove double ups between big clubs. Eg. Showdowns, Collingwood Carlton.

But this would make the AFL more money
There always the possibility of no showdown or Carlton vrs Tiger round 1 but it would work

Not according to Bruhn's lawyer Dermot Dann, KC who told the court the case had been “a horrible stain on the criminal justice system”.

“When it came to these allegations ... the complainant admitted she had lied,” he said.

Which suggests to me the witness getting cold feet had led to the accuser admitting to a lie.

There are calls for VicPol to investigate what appears to be an attempt to pervert the course of justice.

Yes, as usual you make some very astute observations. Major Australian sporting codes are dependent on broadcast rights these days so obviously sports administrators listen when the networks have a whinge. We are seeing money rule in international cricket where those running the game have sold out to Prime/Amazon and I do not imagine that Australian Rules Football will be any different. It will get to a stage where sports fans will ask who is running their sport- the game's administrators or television executives?

It may one day get to the stage where we have to subscribe to half a dozen streaming services if we want to watch a variety of sports.
This shit is unbelievably painful - even moreso in NZ where to watch a half decent sport you also have to subscribe to see NZ favourites like rugby union, field hockey and rowing.

They need to build a much more PAYG system where you just pay for tournaments or to access a set sport for a season, like the AFL, F1 or NBA do.

Is it true that our first 5 games are
Round 1: North Marvel
Round 2: Essendon home
Round 3: Richmond @mcg
Round 4: WCE home
Round 5: saints gather round

Also been told double ups are north, west coast, Essendon, Sydney, Freo and the crows.

Any truth to this?

Just heard Tom Mitchell on SEN.

Hard to believe a 32 year old Brownlow medalist is a free hit to pick by any club.
I think its more a show of the declining quality of brownlows. Priddis and Mitchell lol
