how about Ricciuto's commentary in those highlights ... oh ho ho, ha ha ha, oh my ... no one can ever accuse him of being articulate. Bread good, fire bad.

In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.

- William Ernest Henley, "Invictus"

Against any other team, and in any other place, at any other time, our performance in Round 1 would have won the game...if we had taken our chances. And yes, I'm talking about Hawthorn as well. Our pressure and skills were all first class. It was only that final killer blow that we couldn't land, and we let an opponent who had trained just as hard as we had off the hook. They wanted it more than us. They fed off their supporters, at their home ground, and pulled out the win to exact some sort of revenge for last year.

Tonight, we face an opponent who, for all intents and purposes, is superior to us. Or so they would have you believe. A side that beat us twice last year. A side that we could be forgiven for wanting revenge on as well. But this isn't about revenge. It's about evolution. It's about survival of the fittest. It's about turning the bludgeonings of chance from something that is inflicted upon us, into something that we inflict on them. It's about how badly we want it.

Tonight, we are back at our home ground. Ours. We don't share it with anyone...we just let others borrow it for a time, and it's our job as supporters to make everyone remember that fact. That we are the premiership threats. That we are one of the best, if not the best team in the competition. Tonight we put the fear of god into the souls of each and every Hawks player by a ruthless, aggressive performance. Not out of revenge, but out of an internal belief in ourselves and each other.

Tonight we begin our premiership assault. Tonight, we start the climb up the mountain. Now, you can either sit in your seat, whether it be at the ground or at home, with your arms folded...or you can be an active part of our campaign. You can be the dead weight that is always negative and thinks it can't be done...or you can be the one who cheers until you've lost your voice and who makes Adelaide Oval a seething melting pot of excitement and positivity. When the strains of "Never Tear Us Apart" filter through the speakers, remember who we are and where we have come from. But also remember that the journey isn't complete, and how everyone needs to pull together to get where we have to - not want to, have to - go.

The Port Adelaide Football Club isn't an abstract entity. It has life. We are the master of its fate. We are the captain of its soul.

I've been waiting for this game for months. I couldn't get to the elimination final, so I haven't experienced a Port home game since the demolition of Carlton in round 22. So I've been counting down the days for quite some time, and at last the day has arrived. I'm expecting one of the games of the year (although it could struggle to beat last week's game against Freo).

Tonight of all nights, we simply MUST nail those clutch goals - especially early, to put some scoreboard pressure on the Swans. A 7-17 record against this mob is unacceptable, and it must change, starting tonight!!!!

I actually believe we will convincingly beat them. Last weeks game was monumental compared to Sydney's effort, barring any ill effects from that game I think we should catch a break quite early in the match and hopefully extend it.

Morning all, looks like we are in for great weather tonight.

Big game for Neade tonight, missed a few opportunities last week - hopefully he can get away from playing man on man because he is too small.

All the best to big Redden, full respect for getting back to the big league. I suspect bringing Redden into the team, all 205cm of him, will cause some structural issues for the Swans.

any thoughts on who TJ will man up on to begin with?
