No, its not Sheed.

Cavs send Miles to Blazers

By TOM WITHERS, AP Sports Writer
January 21, 2004
CLEVELAND (AP) -- Forward Darius Miles, fined by the Cavaliers for skipping a practice earlier this week, was traded Wednesday to the Portland Trail Blazers for guard Jeff McInnis and center Ruben Boumtje-Boumtje.

Miles has been a major disappointment in 1 1/2 seasons with Cleveland, which acquired him before last season in a deal that sent guard Andre Miller to the Los Angeles Clippers.

The 22-year-old Miles, who jumped straight from high school to the NBA in 2000, was averaging 8.9 points in 24 minutes per game. But he has been plagued by inconsistency, and first-year Cleveland coach Paul Silas has been reluctant to play him.

After playing just eight minutes on Saturday at Utah in the final game of Cleveland's road trip and with trade rumors about him circulating, Miles missed practice on Monday, saying he overslept.

Miles was fined $2,500 by the Cavs, but played 17 minutes in Monday's win over Seattle. Miles, who will be a free agent after this season, is making $4.1 million in the final year of his contract.

McInnis, 29, will give Cleveland some depth at point guard and another veteran to surround rookie star LeBron James. McInnis is averaging 11.9 points in 32.5 minutes per game.

``Jeff is one of those guys who will step in and do a good job for us,'' Cavs general manager Jim Paxson said.

Boumtje-Boumtje has been playing less than three minutes per game.

This trade is the second significant deal this season for Paxson, who pulled off a six-player swap with the Boston Celtics on Dec. 15.

The Cavs are 8-9 since acquiring Eric Williams, Tony Battie and Kedrick Brown in exchange for Ricky Davis, Chris Mihm and Michael Stewart.

Miles is joining a Portland team that has been in disarray much of the season and may not be finished making trades. The Trail Blazers (17-23) have lost nine of 11 but had one of their biggest wins of the season on Tuesday, a 109-104 victory over the Sacramento Kings in overtime.

Earlier this season, the club traded guard Bonzi Wells to Memphis, and forward Rasheed Wallace remains the subject of trade rumors.

In addition to the trade, the Cavaliers on Wednesday placed rookie forward Jason Kapono on the injured list with tendinitis in his right knee.

Kapono is averaging 4.1 points in 25 games this season.

Might this make a Wallace trade more likely?
Davis at Centre, Randolph at PF, Miles at SF?

Wallace for a Centre and a scoring guard?

Excellent trade for both teams.

Portland didn't need McInnis with Anderson back, and he's been clashing with Cheeks, so they move him for Miles, who was unneeded in Cleveland.

Portland now get a ready replacement for Sheed, whilst Cleveland finally get some legit PG help for LeBron.

Do you think Miles will have to provide his own bong, or will he be presented one with his jersey?

I hope that you are not saying that Miles is a ready replacement for Rasheed.

What ever anyone want to say about Rasheed one cannot forget that he can actually play and has proven so on may occassions whislt Miles is still a very raw project player that may never be any good. To use a qoute that I read on ESPN "he would struggle to lob a pebble into the ocean". By the way I do not doubt Miles's athleticism however I do doubt his basketball nous and his work ethic.

Miles doesn't come close to replacing sheed, but he will be able to play minutes at the SF for us. I liked McInnis as a backup, and would have liked to see him stay regardless of those differences. The trade gives Woods a chance to show some of the game he supposedly has. If a Sheed trade goes down (more likely now) I would also like to see a decent Centre and guard in return. Centre is probably our main concern now. So hopefully a Jamison trade isn't on the cards anymore...

I was clearly talking about being a replacement, in terms of his playing position.

Well then you are clearly wrong once again as Rasheed is a C/PF and not a SF.

Secondly there is no way Miles could play anywhere nearly the amount of minutes that Rasheed plays and is not even cloes to ready made.

True, but Rasheed has been playing alot of SF this season as Zach Randolph is demanding minutes at the PF spot due to his form.

Rasheed moved to SF so that Zach Randolph could start at PF.

I agree that he starts at SF these days, however for most of the game he still plays at PF or C position.

What generally happens is that he would start at SF and then Davis would be substituted where by Rasheed moves to C spot and either Patterson or Woods moves to SF. Then when Davis returns either Rasheed is subtituted or Randolph is substitued. If Randolph is subsitiuted then Rasheed moves to PF spot, alternatively if Rasheed is substituted then next substitution is him coming back for Randolph.

Overall for most of his court time say 30 minutes (out of 38 minutes that he spends on the court) he plays a PF and a C role a positon Miles would not be able to play for that amount of time.

HAHA

Didn't you just make a fool out of yourself in your haste to score points.

As others have pointed out, this year he is starting and playing the majority of his minutes at SF, thanks to the emergence of Randolph.

A word of advice, if you're going to attempt to be a smarmy git, at least make sure you are correct before doing so.

Trying way too hard my friend, very transparent.

Hardly true...

Just because a person starts at SF does not make him a SF... as I have subsequantly said he still plays majority of his time at PF/C. but I guess you were too busy to score your points to actually account for this.

By the way thanks for your advice however you seem to need it more then I.

Backdown of the week.

Lets just take things out of the context shall we... I guess this sort of behaviour just shows what a tool you are...

Well back on the topic...

It's obvious Cleveland have looked at Denver's success and are adamant on adding veterans, leadership and locker room presence, rather than raw talent. So far it's paid off, the team is playing .500 basketball with Williams and Battie around and I would expect this trade to help them further. McInnis continues to be one of the more underrated guys in the league, and just gives them more help for LeBron.

Excellent point.

They've turned over their roster in the past month, moving on Ricky Davis and Darius Miles for less talented, but far more mature and team-orientated ballers.

The Cavs have a solid core now, with LeBron, Z and Boozer the established stars, and the role players in Battie, Williams and McInnis.

They could do with another hard nosed defender inside to help Boozer, but apart from that, they've established a decent base to work with.

And just because you say something, does not make it true. I would say he spends 25 minutes playing the 3, and about 10-13 minutes at the 4/5.

I never said that Wallace was a SF, i merely said that Miles would be a replacement at SF, which is clearly the case, so all your huff and puff was sadly misguided.

Hey there precious!

How thin skinned are you!

Do you honsetly consider being called a tool an insult?

The only one crying around here seems to be you! As far as your dad being better then mine. Well mine is dead so I guess he would be. Then again you and your father ARE related so I guess there is always a chance that he may not be.
