I know that many of us will be absolutely pis sed by the performance of some of our experienced players. Rather then dwell on the negatives as I am sure there will be many that will do this for me I would like to acknowledge the following.

Kennedy and LaCras!

We finally have the makings of the solid forward line and potentially, depending on what pieces we introduce over next year or two, we could have our best forward line ever.

Hurn!

You are legend! This guy is the most special players we have recruited since Judd. So clean, amazing decision making and his delivery by hand and foot has been awesome.

Lynch!

His last two games have been very special. Not only does this guy have a ticker but works his ass off and if anything deserves a credit for leaving everything one the field. I am starting to think that his role may be, Rowan Jones used to do this for us in the past, to play as a midfielder and be used to block and create space for his teammates. We could use him to free up Kerr, Masten and Ebert to attack the ball and when he gets posession rather then handball (like Rowan used to) I would have him kick to certain spots long. He is not a pandantic player and we should not over complicate his game but at the same time we all know that he will give it his all.

Young players!

Whilst Ebert, Masten and Scott Selwood were down a bit they all had a go and its is some senior players that need to take a look at themselves.

Rosa!

I cannot believe that I am saying this but Rosa's play over the last 4 weeks has been out of the box. His kicking has been good, he has put his body on the line and attacked the contest.

Adam Selwood!

One other player that never disappoints and you always know what you will get from him. His effort can never be questioned and always stands up, despite being knocked around. He did a great job on Davy and kicked two goals today.

I'm one of the ones who didn't watch the game cause of work commitments but by the sounds of it
Kennedy is still a gun.
Le Cras is still a gun
Hurn still a gun
Lynch is playing OK
Thats about as positive as it gets

and our PP pick is still up and running-thats got to be a positive.

cockie was good:thumbsu: and mitch brown.

I thought Cockie had a good game and whilst not had huge amount of possessions his work around the ground was very impressive. He was tough today and hit players hard and hit the contest hard.

Brown was good though I am disappointed he was not played in the forward line a great deal today.

I would love to see Hurn pushed forward for a Trial. Sure he is enigmatic at getting the ball clear from the backline and works super well with Glass & Co. but that Potent foot and cool head could get a few sneak goals I reckon.

-Once we sort out our midfield, we have the potential to have exceptional forward and back lines. Kennedy is a gun. Wouldn't mind Tony Notte getting another crack, anything is better than McKinley at the moment.

-Matty Rosa's play. He lets himself down with disposal at times but he works bloody hard and his attack on the footy is first rate. Quite a contrast from when he was perceived as more as a soft, outside player.

-Scotty Selwood will be a gun

-Spangher was good again. Will be a handy 3rd tall.

-Hurn. Obviously.

-Mitch Brown did some good things but they need to work out where to play him.

I agree with everything you said except for Spangher. He worked hard and put in an effort but his disposal was untidy. Having said that I am starting to warm up to him as I do have a soft spot for players that have a dip and are willing to put in an effort.

Cockie had 11 tackles. Chad Fletcher had 2. I think that says it all.

Also, Ebert had 7 and Scott Selwood had 5. Good that some of the younger players are at least going in hard.

Our leading tacklers were those 3 + Nick Nat who had 5 also.

(Glass & Lynch with 6 each were our experienced guys in there).

By contrast A Selwood, Embley, Fletch, Priddis, Stinger, Wirra & Rosa managed either 0, 1 or 2!

Oddly, Hurn had zero.....

It was a bad "TEAM" performance. You can support a player all you wont but thats no good if they contribute towards a failed team structure.

I turned over to watch the WAFL so i cant comment on our second half.

Mitch Brown was moved back to cover the loss of B Jones straight away.

You know I wonder if by doing this we did not cut our nose to spite our face.

I would have like to have seen maybe (very left field thought) McKinnely go back and make him accountable. By sending him back we probably robbed ourselves of a half forward option.

Cockie was good, LeCras continued his form... Hurn has got to be in AA form.

Scooter good again.

Masten's hands were very good, he made a few "rookie" mistakes.

Kennedy is damn good and always finds a way to get into the game, just when you think he is having a quiet one.. BAM! He pops up and contributes.

I think that Cockie should play every game from now to the end of season.
He needs that experience and we have no reason to stop that this year.
His showed enough to suggest that his going to be a good player for us in years to come.

Same could be said about S Selwood, B Ebert C Masten.
They might have a bad game here and there but who really cares, we need them to develope and know that they will be long term players

Positives? Well you've got to hand it to both McKinley and Fletcher. They're obviously trying to ensure we remain eligible for a priority pick.

Agreed!

Unless fatigue sets in and they need a break.

I would like to Swift come back in now that Jones is injured.

LeCras, Brown, Priddis, Lynch.
on a lesser scale McKInley, because even though he is often scrutinised by posterss here, he chased hard and tried his guts out to get into the game.

Another positive is that as bad as we felt after the game imagine how Hawks supporters are feeling at the moment.:o

- Hurn is getting consistent 20+ disposals and using the very well. So many people on here would label him slow or couldn't find the pill but it's amazing what some confidence and more run in the legs can do. Hard to name a week this year where he wasn't in the top 5 players in my eye's.

- Mitch Brown takes the game on better than any of our other mids except Scooter, he has solid pace and strong body so by running that extra 15m he can get great penetration in his kicking. When the forward structure breaks down it doesn't come off but with a competitive side he will be very important.

- Kennedy didn't have a very good day but still managed 4 goals and a couple of those from thumping long kicks. Almost lifted his goals per game up to a 50/year average and IMO is far better than Lynch as a genuine key forward.

- LeCras is consistently getting 3 or more goals per game (average 3.4 over the past 5 games) and actually kicked some crumbed goals today.

- Masten was generally clean in close and his speed (more so his reaction times) to swoop on a loose ball are very impressive. Needs more support, needs more strength and needs more work on the track but is trending very well.

- Scott Selwood tries so damn hard to break tackles, I love the way he goes about the game and is projecting towards Sewell's current level, goes who can charge through traffic and be composed enough to fire out a hand ball are so valuable. Lateral movement is excellent, hands are generally clean at all levels and he has very good ability to read the play. I just pray that Shuey is on the same level as Selwood, the pair of them breaking tackles and taking the hits will get us moving forward much cleaner.

Hurn - What a steal at pick 13 (approx I think)Very cool and his disposal would be top ten in the AFL.

Kennedy - Alot of Carlton supporters were devastated when he left.I can see why.Glad we got him.Never gives up.

Brown - Takes the game on,very promising.

SSelwood,Masten and Ebert had quieter nights but there is alot of good signs with these guys.

if Hurn & Glass aren't leading the B&F at this stage, I'll.... well... not sure.
the consistency of those two just amazes me, and it seems they are actually getting better each week.
Glass has even added run and carry out of defence to this game - if his kicking improved (it's okay, but could be better) he could be even more of an asset to the team (if that's even possible....)
