Just win the next 9 games in a row and we‘ll be right.
In saying that, it is of low probability if not impossible; unless Robert Walls is willing to "help" again.

Just on Williams - agree with your sentiments and you’d think he would be a walk up start against the Saints with their two big men.

Vardy ain’t going to be around forever and Williams is surely next in line. He needs games under his belt so he grows into the role.
BTV. Better than Vards.
He won the occasional ruck contest, as does Vardy.
But he made it to numerous contests around the ground, which is an improvement. What was disappointing was how easily he was out-muscled at those contests. Something he really needs to work on.
His positioning is ok, just needs to work out how manage body on body stuff. And hold position in marking contests.

Edit - message to Bunga. When you're kicking in from a behind, there is a left side to the ground. It exists. It could be an option.

And he did use it at least once I noticed, as it stood out, and was a 60m bullet that even had the commentators frothing.
But yes he is a little bit easy to read.
More 60m bullets and less dinky 25m chips to someone inside the 50 please.

Williams biggest issue atm isn’t his size or strength, he is actually a decent size for his age. His biggest issue is that his body position in marking/ruck contests are poor and he also mistimes his leap a lot on both. ROB and Liam Jones are two players that read ball in flight well and both pulled his pants down.

Lets see the same stats against top 8 sides! and want to see more pressure from them - Tackles. Yes they had 10 between them But 7 between 2 of them. Pressure wins games if you are a small forward ( Not only kicking goals ), creates scoring for others.

Don't disagree with any of this, but probably missing the point of my post.

Sunday was one of the very few games this year where we played a smaller fwd line than normal. Only two "bigs" with Williams only down there for only about 1/3 of the game. Might just be a coincidence, but probably not, that our smalls all had some of their better games given they had much more prominent roles to play.

The only other game this year that we've structured up similarly was the Carlton game. That game also happened to be Ryan, Langdon and probably Jones's best games of the year.

Id like to see more of it

When they do that against good sides I’ll acknowledge my post .. opinion ok .. like everyone I have an opinion

So you still haven't learnt from the last reply to one of your posts on this board?

Negative: for the first quarter, we looked like an out-of-form team struggling to find a productive system.

Neutral: we eventually found a way, but against an Adelaide side who look a long way away from knowing their game plan, and just one week prior produced a display of soul-crushing impotence.

Positive: some new ideas emerged.

1. More inside-50s, even if they weren't marked. We have to accept that our marking targets will often be neutralised - oppositions know that this is our game, and lock down hard. We've seldom relied on our small forwards to get it done when the ball hits the deck; today we showed it's an option. We can win games without Kennedy, Darling and Allen kicking 75% of the goals. Move the ball forward with momentum, have the marking targets bring the ball to ground in the contest, and trust that Cripps and Petruccelle have the skills to create scoring opportunities. Rioli adds to this mix.

2. Ryan as a deep leading forward. Ok, I know this has been seen before, not least at Subiaco, but it's a serious strategy. With all the best spoiling defenders locking down on the tall forwards, and others filling gaps to assist the defenders who are locking down on the tall forwards, Ryan is often guarded by someone whom he can torch on the lead. He just knows how to run into space inside 50.

I remember seeing a fatality for the first time when I was like 7. I thought it was the most bad ass sh*t i’d ever witnessed in my life. That game felt like the most R rated thing in the world

Not going to lie. When I got a copy of that thing for my PC - and then eventually got it working - it stlll rivals the birth of my kid as the best day of my life. The ****ing saga I went through to a) pirate it and then b) configure on my piece of crap PC to run it, was immense.

EMM386.EXE -NOEMS for those of you playing at home 😎

last night was Tom Cole back to his 2020 form when he looked something special. When him and Duggo both have knack of make things happen when they try to take the game on more often. I lost a bit of faith in Tom this season but good to see him play some decent fooy for a while.

Harry Edwards looks a star in the making, so much better fit than Barrass in the side.

Connor West tackling and hard at the contest gives us something we have been missing

I want your opinion on this as I think this is the only way that Edwards is in the side assuming Barrass and Mcgovern are fit.

Everyone here should at this stage know I am one of, if not Rotham's biggest supporter, think he's a great young player and third tall.

I do however feel that we can only play a max of 3 talls counting Rotham as a tall in defence. We don't have enough run and carry as it is, having 4 talls down back plus shep and hurn is just too much. So the question is do we play the best team or the best 22. As far as im concerned Rotham is easily in the best 22 as that third tall and a better player than cole, nelson, witherden etc.

However if we are looking at playing our best side with a fully fit best 22 is our best team actually Edwards at FB, Barrass at CHB and Mcgovern as third tall? You then obviously have Duggan, Hurn and Shep filling the other roles with a defender on the bench. Do you pick the better player in Rotham or do you pick the best setup for the side.

For me you play the best side, not the 22 best players so I would player the above setup with Cole as the 7th defender based off of the weekends performance. The above fully fit also allows either Gov or Edwards to second ruck in defence as I don't think Williams is ready yet.
