Yep a few times where he kinda tried to pan but just stopped dead. Pissed me off, maybe it was just a newbie.

Strangely guys that were added AFTER their sides developed an actual midfield. Whats the point tagging anyone if we have no-one who can hurt the team in an attacking sense?
My point was, and remains, that too many on here were taking up McGinnity - I mean in the votes thread someone actually gave him a vote FFS ....
He MAY become a tagger. He MAY become an AFL level player. Currently he has below average skills, some pace (although not great pace), and he works hard. He MIGHT make it. Did nothing today that warranted any actual praise. Again, we get over-excited by average talents who are young, hard working, give it their all types (hence the Priddis comparison).
I guess we will see....
I'll have to watch the replay (painful as it may be)... but at the game Swift looked completely lost whenever he got the ball... drew a player, then passed to noone, or someone under pressure, or spilled it, and his bounces are almost worse than NicNats![]()
For those guys slagging of Priddis and Pat McG.
It is impossible to have only super class players due to, population, other leagues in this country and the number of top level teams.
However our silky players are currently either out or very young and small. Once they get bigger, strong and smarter, players like Priddis and Pat will be important to us.
Why should we stop developing them just because they are not first class and are more developed physically then others? Also why should we not commend them when they have a good game?
Doesn't make any sense.

Showed more than the much more fancied S.Selwood today. We dont need more players like Priddis no. McGinity has everything needed to become an AFL player.

At the risk of drawing the ire of the terminally stupid, we are currently talking up McGinnity for absolutely no reason whatsoever. He did nothing yesterday except one kick to LeCras which anyone with basic skills could have made. LeCras had 3m on his opponent and was running towards goals into a completely open 50. All McGinnity did was kick it to the space - good on him but that was all he did.
Anyone at the game who saw anything more than that one kick and some effort is kidding themselves.
Thats my point i.e. we get excited about "hard work", "effort" and "toughness" - instead of talent, ability and important things. Probably the same fans that liked Troy Wilson
So its clear MaxHunt, there is no issue with commending anyone on a good game - but if you thought McGinnity had a good game yesterday, you need to grab a book on AFL, get hold of some DVD's of actual football teams and then after a few years of learning about the game, get back to us.
He tried hard and was bog ordinary. He showed a little last week. I was happy to see him get games and I hope he turns into a footballer - but the "warm fuzzies" he is getting on here make no sense as they are based on him having a "good game" and he simply didn't.
Seperately, on Priddis - surely people are now seeing the points I have been making all season long - he shouldnt be anywhere near our centre square set-up for 80%+ of the game and he WON'T be anything but a role player when we are good again. He is back to "get ball, throw on boot" or "get ball, handball 2m sideways to a stationary team mate" ... creates nothing, causes no harm to the opposition and butchers the ball horribly.... he is a stop gap in a shit midfield.
Didnt see the game as i am in Mexico on holiday thus didn't vote or comment on the game. And i cannot say whether he had a good game or not. I have to go by general consensus. I also have the benefit of removing emotion from this discussion.
The point i was/am making is that not every player will be class. Its impossible. Clearly both are not or have little chance of becoming A grade players. This does not mean that they should be cut or their position in the team is not valuable.
B grade players look and play alot better when they are around A graders. I believe we have the A graders, they just are not ready yet.
In addition how can you judge after a handful of games if a person will become a AFL player (RE: Your reply to EasternHills)? You can't, again its impossible.
You may well be right, but i will put my trust in the coaching staff who have delivered us a flag over someone who post's on bigfooty.

EDIT: Also, Houlihan has bulked up a lot, I think. He's not a skinny bastard anymore and I actually thought he was Arrowsmith for a second, when I first saw him.
Plus, I must be the only one who thought Hurn played well. I guess I was blinded by the fact that he cut off a fair amount attacks for Fremantle? I don't know.

Eagle87 - In addition to doing some very good things with ball in possession (can't believe you are talking down that pass to Le Cras - that was absolutely top shelf and Le Cras would have been lucky to have 3 feet on his opponent) McGinnity spent the majority (not all but a high portion of his total TOG) as a defensive forward on Duffield who has been in very good form for the Dockers. I thought he did a really good job shutting him down keeping him to just a handful of possessions in the time that he spent on Duffield.
With respect to Priddis - I agree his kicking is substandard. However, I think you will find if you take your anti-Priddis blinkers off his handballing is actually quite creative and amongst the best in the Eagles side. Priddis would surely be heading for another top 5 B&F finish this season (I think that would be his 3rd) and will become an exceptionally important player as an elite ball winner (as distinct from ball user) once some of the more talented youngsters get enough experience to begin to feed of Priddis' grunt work more effectively.
Have any of you Priddis knockers actually played the game?! The first thing you have to do is get the haggett, beautiful skills are outright useless if you can't get it, just ask Lewis Stevenson. Okay he doesn't use it as well as Cuz, Judd and some others but newsflash boys and girls not many people do. Give me Priddis any day thanks - has come so far in such a short space of time and will only get better as Kerr returns and the kids develop.

For someone who doesn't live in the country, you seem to know a lot about players in juniors. There is actually not a single thing I agree with in that post. Not one. You have no clue.
Naitanui has dished off more creative handballs in his short career to date than Priddis has in the 10 years I have been watching him - since juniors. Priddis remains a guy who can get it and still that remains his only AFL level skill. In an era in which ball use is more important than ever and pace is an absolute essential - because of the use of zones - Priddis is well below average in both categories and plays only a role (as a mid) that requires those skills - ideally both but certainly at least one - to be elite.
But you have a man crush on Priddis and as such your aberrant views are understandable .... weird and misplaced ... but understandable.
By the way, on the pass. I was directly behind McGinnity (in a box on that half forward line/wing) and LeCras had 3m on his opponent.
