Positives:
• Morton actually putting his head over the ball and having a solid game
• Webberley has finally shown something
• Rebounding from being 8 points down
• Tuck, the usual ball-magnet
• Foley rebounding from last week's game
• Deledio putting his hand up to lift the team up
• Graham, no bad from the guy
• Miller early on in the game
• EVERYONE AND I MEAN EVERYONE HAD AT LEAST 1 TACKLE

Negatives:
• Cotchin being silenced
• Thursfield, Farmer having really bad games

Changes
IN: Newman, If fit
OUT: Farmer

Not in the last quarter he wasn't. Broke Bartram's tag and ended up being one of our best. His last quarter was epic.

Positives:

Martin
Miller
Tuck
Winning a game we usually lose. Great character

Negatives:

Thursfield (just looked lost and lazy)
Edwards first 3 quarters were terrible, last quarter much better.
3rd quarter (if we want to be a better side we need to put an end to these)

Positives
Winning a close one.

It was almost the reverse of some of our losses early in the year. Being on top but unusually straight kicking and a big third quarter keeping them in it. Before going over the top of them in the 4th.

Foley having a good game, hopefully with an injury free pre-season we can get the best out of him next year

Deledio's defensive efforts in the 4th. I've got into him before for not putting enough in defensively.

Dusty and Cotch

Edwards and Graham having good games

Winning 2 out 3 without Newman

Negatives
Woeful third quarter
Allowing a spud like Jones to tear us apart in the third
Sylvia having his annual day out against us.

Changes

None... allow Mitch Farmer the last couple of games to play for his career

Negative:
- Post substituted out AGAIN. Even worse that Farmer was out there at the time. Probably not such a bad idea considering the height of Melbournes forward line... but it cant be doing much for the boys confidence. If you ask me I think hes shown just as much this year as Astbury did last year.

Was pretty good. Played parts of the first half on Jurrah. Not a great match up for Post. Jurrah is very quick
Still panics when he has the ball. And that comes from not being confident with his spot in the side. Getting subbed off would not have helped today.
I wouldlike to see him be more confident when he has the ball. At the moment he uses it quite well, but doesn't seem to realise it.

Yeah I think the possessions Jurrah had were a result of our press. Not much our defenders could do when we turned the ball over at half forward.

His defensive efforts were really good. Competition for spots will be very healthy next year with Moore, Rance, Grimes, Post, Thursfield, Astbury and potentially Gourdis vying for key spots down back.

Uhh, I thought Thursfield had another ripper. He first played on Howe, who came off a 3-goal, 10 grabs and 18 possessions last week to be goalless and have only 3 possessions. He then moved on to Green who had fresher legs, so you have to give him the benefit of the doubt. He only kicked 1 goal anyway.

The more he plays the more confident he'll get. Reckon he'll be taking speccies at CHB after a while lol

Subbing of Post might have been just trading a tall for a small, not necessarily because he didn't play well. I think he had a crack today and did some nice things.

I saw Lids win some quality hard ball today and stand up when required. Tucky didnt have the best game by foot but if the ball is at ground level and he's nearby, it ain't goin' nowhere. :D:thumbsu:

Cotch is all class, Dusty influences matches even with ~20 touches and Rance is a gun - 194cm/92kg? Perfect.

Why the Thursfield hate? Smashed Howe out of the game and Kept Martin/ Jurrah quite in the last qtr.

Farmer and Dea where smashed by Sylvia. One of those two should have been subbed out and Thursty moved to Sylvia.

Poor coaching let the demons get us on the break everytime, felt sorry for the defenders and none of them stood a chance in that 3rd Qtr.

Postives- Mitch Morton hard game by him body on line and again tackle pressure was there.

Brad Miller- Those still questioning his spot on the list please shut the hell up now!!! Has to be on senior list now and IMO is one of first picked now. His forward pressure and leadership in fwd line is massive. Jacks game in the past month has been so much better with Miller in and I would argue strongly that Miller has had a huge influence on him becoming a more team player, showing him it's not all about how many goals you kick yourself but set up by hard work, double leading, chasing tackling and bringing others into the game.

Grigg good game and Tuck again good in middle.

Edwards has had a huge late season run

Deledio outstanding defensively today, not as much run out of backline. Not many cheap stats for lids tonight.

Houli was well down disposal wise but he kept Davey very quite. I think tonight showed us just how important Houli has become to our side, we lacked run and dash out of the back half , he had 4 kicks for the game. He has a lethal boot. Sacraficed his own game tonight, but get Batch and Newman back next year and release Bachar to use that lethal boot of his!!

This goes for the whole team. We're a team with a lot of young players for starters, and less than 2 seasons under Dimma. I reckon the players need to get to a point where the Dimma game plan is second nature. When under pressure they don't revert to old, bad habits, but instead they know where to go, what to do, where their team mates will be and what they'll be thinking. All 22 on the same page.

This will the case even moreso for a young player who has had no continuity in the seniors to put it into practise. He certainly showed signs today that he will be a player. Have to play him for the last couple of games.

Said all of what I would say, coaching in the 3rd qtr concerned me. Had to get the runner out and get the players to shut the game down for a while once they got hold of the ball.
And Cotchin is a gun, turning into an animal at the contest and playing right on the edge:thumbsu: Awesome to watch.

I've said it before and will say it again, Edwards is going to be a gun. Cotch was massive (someone said he was a "negative" today and that is just wrong). He has some massive hard ball gets - what a champion. Rance was ace as well - best young full back in the league?? melbourne are pretty soft though, but still a really good win.

Seriously scary how hard Cotch goes at the ball. His ability to move in multiple directions at such speed is incredible. How he gets a hold of the ball in a contest some times just boggles the mind.

Plenty of positives...

- Rance was great dwon back, though needs to work on decision making.
- Posty was very good I thought, took some nice grabs and was in the right places.
- Webbs had an immediate impact once getting a run.
- Dusty being Dusty
- Kingy's pressure. Maybe should have him run in the middle for spells, his arms are vice like when he latches onto something.
- Didn't get destroyed in the centre.
- Tackling pressure

+ plenty more...

Some negatives

- Grigg should've looked up instead of going for goal of the year.
- Farmer. Laid a good tackle, was useless for the rest of the game.
- Let them get way too many easy goals, should've had the game sewn up by 3 qtr time.
- Still keep bombing it long down the wing instead of actually having players run into space, too much chance involved with bombing it down the wing and hoping for it to go over the line.

Grigg will be the next scapegoat of this club.

Credit where it's due...he has been good in the last month. Same goes for Titch.
