Not a great effort overall.
If WCE can get that close to us at the G, then I'm worried what North will do to us if they turn up to play.
Good to see Faull's game high 9 Post CL CP's, and a few other highlights from the 1st year kids.

He went at 63%
Maybe watch the game again
If you don’t kick it out of bounds or straight to an opponent it’s deemed to be an effective possession. Watch the first quarter and you will see that most of Macintosh’s possessions were kicks or handballs to a contest or to ground. I only recall one kick that went more than 30 metres and was marked by a Richmond player.

I dont need to rewatch the game

I watched it and he was fine , Nothing great and Nothing terrible but he holds his spot for his 200th game

Richmond's 2025 Grand Final game

Kamdyn McIntosh 200th game
the boys love him and i hope they get up for this game and give it their all for Kappa

Out : Green or Trezise
In : Short
Of course short will come straight back in but I hope Banks remains our designated play maker from the back half instead of short. IMO banks put up a better game than short has had for years and although he did stuff up a couple of times he didn’t go into his shell and kept demanding the footy. I don’t know where short sits anymore, obviously a much loved figure around the group but needs to somehow reinvent himself to remain a force on the field.

Macintosh had 19 possessions for the game, 9 possessions in the first quarter and I think only 1 of those hit a target. Everything he does seems rushed. Play him as a sub to get him to 200 games if that’s what the coaches want bur please don’t pick him in the starting lineup.
I’m a big advocate to have Macca in the VFL or as sub this season … BUT …. not this week. It’s his 200th. It would be a massive show of disrespect to make him sub in his 200th. Play him the whole game and give him the kudos he deserves. Show the kids what culture and being a ‘Richmond man’ means. Only a shit club would make him sub.

They're always ridiculous 🤣🤣
People don’t understand them, that’s the problem. Maybe have a look at the top rated players across the season and tell me if they’re ridiculous:

Ed Richards
Brayshaw
Xerri
Butters
Bont
Libba
Serong
Gawn
Miller
Anderson
Rowell

The best way I can explain player ratings is to use a cricket analogy.

A bowler beats the bat 20 times, has 3 catches dropped off their bowling, has 2 x plumb LBW’s turned down, concedes 20 runs through the slips cordon and finishes with 0-36 off 19 overs.

Another bowler in the same game has 2 x blokes caught on the boundary, gets a wicket from a long hop and another from a full toss. Doesn’t beat the bat once. Also gets a couple of lucky LBW’s that were missing leg. He finishes with 6-40 off 9 x overs.

So if cricket had a ratings system bowler one would get a 20 rating, and bowler two would get a 6 rating. But bowler two would get the votes and best player awards even though bowler one bowled much better.

The AFL ratings are similar, where you might do everything right as a player, but the players you set up for goal miss, the clearances you get amount to nothing and so on… but over a longer period of time, those with high player ratings will establish themselves as the best players across the season, as their actions will over time deliver better results than the lower ranked players.

Of course there are sometimes anomalies, but never look at individual game ratings and think they explain everything, as they don’t.

Just like the cricket example where the 20 rated player takes 0-36 and the 6 rated player takes 6-40. But if they keep bowling like that game after game who is going to come out on top?

Yeah but what about the constant 5 wides (FA) and the half tracker that got tonked for 6 in the penultimate over from Harley? Or the half assed chase in the opening over in the outfield where he let the ball roll over for a boundary and his team loses on the last ball...

Feels like there was no weighting for any of that?

North have a little flight from Tassie while we played at the G under some heat. But of heat training will be good for the boys, cherry ripe to win. Lynch, Balta, Nank to get 6 week suspensions here if they have to and take them out.

If we can just get Macintosh to 200 games we should see him to start to improve. Or we could try and get the kids to 50 games and see how much they improve.

We were average against a poor side. Much better vs GC and Blues. Crap teams tend to drag you back to there levels look at Norf Lions.

If anything - and this is probably the problem - we play to the same standard week-in, week-out. I think we were $1.53 to win yesterday and, as these assessments often are, you’d have to say it was spot on.

Brings back a memory of an inter-school cricket match in 1983 and my friend (who was a much better all-round athlete and sportsman) delivered an over of unplayable balls and didn’t take a wicket and was pissed off when I got a wicket when a classmate took a catch deep in the outfield 😂

RFC will be lucky to play a final with him in the side let alone win one by 2028,hes no shocker but hes not shane tuck let alone Deledio in these trying but bright times,he has a role and hes plying it well n thats to shoulder the brutality of congestion on behalf of the youngsters but for a #7 daft pick back in 2015 he lacks brilliance and match swinging ability, not knocking him,has a go but at some stage when your a #7 you should be dominating a handful of games every season, lets hope its ahead of him,ive a feeling most is behind him too,the contract unfortunately is 2 years too long

ok lets go down this alley, lets compare Deledio n Hopper, lids club bnf ,#1 pick, silky sublime matchwinner and we moved him on n bought in Prestia,so i dont see what the issue is with moving on Hopper after next season, even this year if we can get a buyer,so what if he wins the BnF ?,lids was a # 1 bnf winning matchwinner

I think the reason the Hopper trade pisses me off - and I’ve probably said this before - is that we see a lot of Giants games on 📺 up here and never once did I find myself thinking, “Gee, I’d really love to see Jacob Hopper in a Richmond jumper!”

An effective disposal is a disposal that either hits a target, or is to a contest if over 40m iirc.

Lol at the FW's disappointed we won. Ooooooh if they had. GAGF idiots. What we witnessed was the bottom team playing the third bottom team. The kids got some great learnings in. The line had us at 2.5 wins for the season. We are ahead of that, we're ahead of the people saying we wouldn't win a game for the year.
We are at ground zero. Enjoy the win. We all said it was gonna be ugly at the start of the year. Guess what. Ugly losses AND ugly wins. Go get some perspective.
We go into the next two games at least with a possibility of winning. At the start of the season, we couldn't even say that. Can't wait to read the gamed thread. I dare say it will be as embarrassing as the first 5 pages here.
I've just come back from an extended break from both footy and big footy and nothing has changed. Same posters with the same shocking takes. Thanks for saying what I struggle to articulate CB17.
