Loved Murphy lifting in the second half, loved Gibbs getting into Thornton and pushing him away from the shit he started.

i think the biggest positive to come out of last night was the loss itself. i know a loss is never great, but I think everyone will agree that we played liked we had already won the game. the press and public have been jumping on the bandwagon, saying we have arrived etc, yet the truth is we are still a work in progress

i have enormous faith in this group, and there isnt a team in the AFL that I would rather barrack for than the Blues. We are definately on our way, but we are not here just yet, and last night proved it.

i believe you will see a very different attitude on sat v the swans. i believe we will be hard, determined and have a resolve about us, that we might not have had, had we not had a big dose of reality last night

we may very well look back on the dons game at the end of the season, and say this was the one that started it all, this was the moment the boys were taught that talent will only take you so far in the AFL. its about going that extra metre, and i believe we will get that next week.

i am absolutely on us to beat the swans, i feel positive thinking about it already. the boys will be fired up and out to prove the footy world how good they are......

Murphy - Didn't stop trying all night. He really looks set to become an A grade GOAL KICKING midfielder.

Judd - Star. No other words needed.

Wiggins - NEVER gives up. Spectacular mark for his size. Presents very well on the HFF.

Kreuzer - Amazing to think he is winning ruck duels in his 2nd year. Will be something special.

Eddie - Career best form. Keep it up son.

Couldn't have said it better myself!

Murph - from memory, I don't think he has missed a goal this year

Judd - as above

Wiggins - Great hands and always gives 110% (just needs to practice goal kicking)

Kreuuuuuuuuuuz - Special K

Betts - Finally doing what he is paid to do consistently!

+ve for me = watched replay-hit delete and now am focused on Sydney
And that's exactly what more supporters should be doing!

We lost, the game's done, there's nothing we can do, move on and focus on next week because there are MANY more next weeks to go.

I'm positive we played like Shit (does that count ?? :D)

BTW I'm sick of this bullshit that this 'loss' counts as a 'positive', since when has an 'loss' ever counted as an positive ???

It might be a 'wake up call', but it's disheartening to know we have plenty of front-runners/down hill skiers at our club IE Kade Simpson, Thornton, Russell etc ..

There is nothing 'good' about losing, in this game, and where our club is at, only Winning matters, and losses esp to scum, shitty, incompetent teams like Essendon is not Acceptable at all, and all the players should be feeling like crap, knowing they have let all the supporters and members down bigtime.

We lost a game of football we should not have. It happens.

I have faith in the players. (The majority)
I have faith in the coaches. (Yes, Ratten let us down on the weekend)
I have faith in the MC. (They certainly let us down this week)
I have faith in the club as a whole and would not want to barrack for any other team, period.

If you think that the players feeling like crap will make things better, let's make them feel really bad.
You see, that's not the answer.

They have not all forgotten how to play in one week.
You have several exciting years to come. Let's not crumble in the face of a 4 point loss now.
Not afraid of a fight is CP but I don't think you will ever get him in the armed forces.
But I agree with your other points.
It is a test of how far the team has come. Whether we can regroup and play better or fall into a heap.
Momentum is a valuable thing

Meh, for over 100 years, this club was built on winning, and losses 'were never accepted or tolerated' at this club, right up until the start of the 'dark times' ...

The players should be made to feel bad and feel embarrassed about their performance, cause most of us felt the same watching it ...
Losses happen, I realise that, but when you start to 'accept' them or 'dismiss' them as aberrations, that is when 'mediocre' cultures and mindsets start to crop up at football clubs.

I have no doubt that we have a very suspect backline with Jamison, Bret Thornton basically is our version of Joel Bowden, and the lack of defensive 'accountability' in our midfield is also deeply concerning ....

Until we can get vast improvement in those two areas, we will not be coming close to winning a flag anytime soon (and that is what football and this club is all about, to win premierships)

There was/is no excuses for this club not to start the season at 3-0, and now it looks like we'll probably start it at 2-2 after the game in Sydney (haven't beaten the Swans in years)

We are all disappointed, ofcourse we are, we wouldn't be Carlton supporters/fans if we weren't hurting. But there are a lot more positives from the loss than negatives. I agree with some of the things you have said CP, but for our young playing group it was good to see them fight it out to the end. Even with 30 seconds on the clock we still had a chance. :thumbsu:

^^ exactly, I think just some fine tuning and iron out the chinks.

Congrats on the Carlton board in not imploding so far during the week. It was only 1 loss to a side that always 'comes to play' against us as we do them. I'll only start worrying if we lose the next 3 games, he boys copped their reality check and I expect they will fire against Sydney.

Eddie is on fire the last 3 weeks, hope he continues his form.
