1. The Hase is back. Had a great game on the weekend.

2. We actually were breaking even in the midfield for one. According to pro-stats clearances were 31-31 a piece. I think official stats had us doing a bit worse.. but clearly, we didn't get killed in the midfield like we did last year.

3. We had more inside 50s... ssh about what we did with them!

4. Sandilands is still a gun.

5. Palmer's goal in the 3rd quarter was top notch.

Pro-Stats can't be trusted. Ever. Freo didn't get a clearance in the 4th quarter and ended the game with 24 IIRC. We dominated the hit-outs and got killed in the clearances. That was a big negative.

Palmers goal was the only thing that made me smile all day.

Geez this is hard as I'm still a little cranky from yesterday.

Hase - great to have you back.

Suban - This kid is gonna be a great pick up for us....has a lovely kick

Incoming - There's a tiny bit of comfort in the fact that we have some reasonably good players out at the moment. So I'm looking forward to my man *Hayden coming in. Chris Mayne - we are really missing his ferocious attack on the ball. Des Headland - Like it or not he can kick to hit a target.


* on a side note, I was interested to see how many games freo has won when Hayden has missed. Since round 1, 2006, Roger has missed 19 games. Out of those 19, Freo lost 12. It's not as high as I suspected but Jeez he is important to our team.
 
Hase coming back into form.

Palmer never gives up and shows his class.

Sandi wins more contested ball off the deck than any big man..ever.

High draft picks this year:cool:
 
Just watching the game again now.

Haselby was fantastic.

Easily our best...by miles in fact...him and Mundy are the couple that can make good decisions more often than not and hit targets
Sandi was better than I gave him credit for.

Browne and Head, please never again.
Liked Suban's game.

Hill actually did a couple of nice things, including a good shepheerd but not enough.

McParlin and Pav were the worries...no guts no glory.

I only got to see the first half before I had to go out. Any chance anyone has the footage and can post a link? (freo 1995 is always good for that).

In the under 18's carnival he was kicking multiple goals every single game and when freo picked him up i thought it was something he could really add to freo. Granted there is a large step up to AFL level but he certainly knows where to go to be dangerous around goals.

I'm hoping he can do this more because I think sometimes midfielders can get bogged down trying to kick it to the key forwards instead of running it another 20 metres until they are in range and having a shot themselves.

Palmer looks like he is becoming an elite midfielder his skills where good and his 2 goals came right when we needed them the most the second being a beauty.

Suban is close to being AFL ready IMO should play about 15 or so games this year.

Haselby is back in good form we really need him if we are going to win the clearences.

and the big one we still have Adam Campbell, Hayden Ballantyne, Chris Mayne, Clayton Hinkley, Roger Hayden and to a lesser extent Des Headland to come back into the 22.
 
Palmer's kicking seemed to have improved since last season.
Suban is going to be a star
Hase could win the B&F

and sadly that's about it

I know that Melbourne really went backwards but we're trying to be positive aren't we.
 
IMO Mundy and Peake are a positive. Mundy has really stood out for me in the midfield with generally good decision making and skills, whilst Peake has been dangerous around the goals and is A LOT better than last year.

Palmer's confidence regarding his kicking and generally must be getting better with his goals and reasonable effectiveness around the ground.

Hasleby was good and looks fit.

I really liked how dangerous he looked up foward too. Because he can obviously play in the midfield. I think he will be very good running into the foward 50 and being a Foward/Mid just adds more options for us but also his marking ability having playing defensive for so long is good.
 
1. We're one game closer to the end of Browne, Head and Thornton's careers.
2. We've got our season's worst effort behind us (in terms of having a go and team spirit). Surely the effort and commitment can't be that bad against Adelaide??
3. Palmer and Suban were good, and Hase is coming on back nicely.
4. No injuries.
5. This weekend when I watch the game I won't have to listen to Slapovich saying " 'Ssssssnnndn" every 30 seconds. Slapovich, it is pronounced "Ess-en-done" - use your vowels!! Trust me, they are five shexy, shexy letters, and words sound so much better when you actually include them...
