Thank Gawd that is over.

1. Surely we won't play such boring crap football for a whole first half for the rest of the season? Last week's first half against Sydney was abysmal and frustrating to watch - this afternoon's first half was simply boring and utterly pointless.
2. Mundy is BAAAAACK!!
3. Pearce is showing that a committed, determined pre-season effort by a rookie will bear fruit - he won't ever be a 250 game player, but he is providing a decent role player for us at the moment.
4. MJ - very good again in the backline, especially when he was put under pressure by poor handballs from DUffman and Spud Dawson.
5. Ibbotson - I'm not normally a fan, but gee he was good today, especially in the first 3 quarters.
6. Our stamina and run - for the second week in a row, we had a bench of only two men for most of the second half - yet we clearly ran the game out better than our opponents. Perhaps our stamina and strength training is finally correctly balanced, so we might be able to run out games better than the other mob??
7. Matty De Boer - not the silkiest player around, but yet again burrowed in, smashed the packs and (amazingly) took some great overhead contested marks. Very, very valuable player for us at present.
8. Suban had a better game. Still average by his standards of 2010, but both he and Pearce showed that holding faith will pay rewards.
9. Barlow played a whole game - while he didn't exactly dominate, he didn't seem to slow down or show soreness during the second half, which is a great sign.

AND

10. Most of all - MZZZZZZuuuuNNNNggggAAAAAAeeeeewwwwww - surely he has been the brightest and best of our players so far this year? Just another great 4 quarter game from him - excellent tackling and really good handballs and kicks under pressure. Quickly becoming my favourite player of the current lineup...

the lions brought a game plan informed by our former coach and while it totally ****ed with our own game plan, we ground out a win despite it.

thought brisbane did very well countering our kicks to talls off hb - but we worked a way around that (thank god)

keeping a team to under 40 points is a great feat

ffs if we reversed the scores (i mean our points and goals) we would have won by 69 points

a lot to take from that match and just as much to learn from it, bring on the saints

The only positives out of this game for me was;

4 points

&

Maynes mark.

(I can't even count Mundys return as a positive because of who he had to replace)

1. Mundy's instant silk in the middle

2. Zachary Clarke continues to impress.

3. Ibbo stood up and made a number of good contributions.

4. Barlow and Sandi both looked knackered but still Putin effort to get through the final quarter.

5. Clancee's 3 goals

Matt DeBoer was a huge plus again IMO. Versatile, hard at every contest and importantly bought others into the game.

MZ's ability to get to the amount of contests that he does and still have the energy and footy smarts to sprint to the right places - great mix of big tank, quick off the mark and plenty of footy smarts.

Zac Clark in the forward line in the second half. He seemed to spend most of the second half in the forward line. He moved to good positions, created a contest, and made the forward line look a bit more functional.

Funny how people see the game. I thought DeBoer was close to woeful. Got little of the ball and couldn't hit a target by hand or foot. But yeah, he had more success hitting a pack than hitting a target. I can understand Fyfe or Boyd having a DE of 50% when they get the pill 30 times, but DeBoer got his 46% DE with about 14 possies.

The return of David "Silky smooth" Mundy

Clancee's goals and efforts around the ground

Chopper's mark

Grinding out a very ugly,unattractive win = 4 points

Zac Clarke

Ballas return next week

1/ the 4 points
2/ the 4 points
3/ the 4 points

Offset by too many negatives, including my man's hammy:thumbsd:

We'll kick 3 goals against the Saints unless Ross can fix the forward structure.

Harsh.. thought more then 30 players on the ground porbably had a DE of close to 33% ! Even Mundy and Barlow couldn't hit targets and thats saying something.

Possibly, but DeBoer wasn't great. 13 disposals at 46% DE is poor. Harsh was someone suggesting McPhee be dropped ( in comparison he had 22 disposals at 95% DE)

1. 4 points
2. Mundy was a class above everyone on the field
3. Pearce

Now let us never speak of this again.

Why would it be better to have 15 kicks hit the target and 15 miss, than 7 hit the target and 7 miss? I would have thought the more possessions the more you should get to your true %, so if it is low it is a bad reflection on your efficiency.
