For this week, I have only the following:
1. No injuries.
2. FYFE!! He went in hard and often, and even took a few overhead marks - shoulder stood up well, and he is clearly back at full tack. Just needs to get the kicking sorted...
3. Pearce - not flashy, but gee he does good work in close and under in games like this.
4. Hilly's classy disposal by foot - really stands out in games like this one...
5. Luke "Elvis" McPharlin - all Australian surely, in wonderful form.
6. Mayne - really hard at it, and wonderful marking too...
7. Pav - very good marking, though his kicking was a bit iffy today.
8. Ibbo - responded to a howler last week with a better game.
9. Big Kep - adds a whole different dimension to our game - while not as good as last week was still very serviceable, and never shirks a contest.
10. DERBY next week!! Yooo-haaah!!

Four wins on the trot is a positive. Hope we can make it five against Wet Toast.

i mentioned it before, but a win away at aami that sets the groundwork for the adelaide game.
also, jumped out of the blocks, which we don't seem to do often.
fyfe got a game pre-derby to find touch.
mundy showing further signs of coming back into form.

Good signs that Sutcliffe was equal fourth in the team for clearanes (2) from just 18% game time. Had six touches, 2 marks and a goal in 18% game time. That's a positive for mine.

I agree with this, thought Sutty was activated too late, would have preferred to see him come in for Ballas or Walters at half time.

He is really promising though - and if Sheridan, Crozier and Spurr can also keep developing then we've done quite well from last year's draft...

"The return of Nat Fyfe, who's just brilliant isn't he? Gee whiz, I wasn't sure what to expect, but give me a few more Nat Fyfes and I'll coach a bit better," Lyon said.

"He's such a good contested ball winner and a monster athlete."

I havent actually seen the game yet and had to settle for listening to it on the radio while driving but I'm an ever increasing fan of Lyon's post match comments.

Really liked how he talks about the derby as well, nothing over the top (and for both clubs the focus is still the season/finals) but just a couple of comments acknowledging that it is a big game to get right. Beats the standard 'its no different to any other game' approach with the media.

It's unfortunate, but i think for the rest of his career, im going to be nervous whenever Fyfe attacks a contest

There were no kid gloves today either.
He hit the ground on his shoulder and a few slides with arms outstretched that had me feeling anxious.
I think another full season without incident and we'll all feel more comfortable .

Duffman was a positive for me. I'm sure everyone's aware I'm not a big fan but credit where it's due, numerous times today I saw him back into packs to create a contest.

Looks like that extended run in the WAFL may have finally started to get the message across.

I really enjoyed the work of Spurr and Mcphee today, when these two tackle it's not half hearted, they tackle to hurt.

Too many still tackling with arms out rather than driving through with the shoulder.

Hill, Ibbo and Johnson Im looking at you.

Take your negative garbage and go post it somewhere else, this is the positives thread.

We seem to lift a little bit higher having McPhee up back and knowing he will put his body on the line and attack with huge intent. Did it a few times today and really left some Port players sore.
On Lyon presser, loved how when analyzing our game, said we took port to the cleaners in the first half.. Geez thats refreshing to hear as a fan. Witty content and always want to improve..

Positives:
Mayne- not just today but whole season has turned it around and confident is high and what a year makes.. Last year hated him lining up for a shot but now you just knew he would nail those two in the first quarter easily.
Mundy- he is getting it to the level we know he is capable of. Great running goal during a quarter which we scored something like 1 goal 5.
Fyfe- nuff said.
Hill- although a bit rusty, thought he kept running and took the game on. Really hope he uses this and blast any of the Duckwood brothers next week, need him to step up in a derby.

Yeah, spot on. I'm obviously his buddy so I'll stick up for him, but I had no problems with him getting dropped a few weeks back. At the same time, he was back to his best today. Sort of form we saw earlier in the year and the sort of play that had him right up there with the best creative HBF going around in 2010 season. Just need consistency from him.

Mundy has flicked a switch in the last few games. Still struggling finish games as well as he's starting them, but he's getting right into the contested play where he's most damaging and seems to have sorted his disposal out too. Not all there, but he's getting there slowly.

we're winning the games we are supposed to win, wherever they are played. That's a good start for me, 'cause I was getting sick of the Freo unpredictability of the past. Now we can work on beating teams ahead of us. I know it was probably too taxing but if we put that first half effort in for 4 quarters every game we would easily be top 4. Stopping a team from kicking more than 2 goals at their home ground is very telling. For me, a bit of Lower and Dawson (for Ibbo and Gu?) would keep the pressure up longer and potentially stop that run of late goals and grind a team down. Maybe also Walters to play sub and create havoc late in the game may also turn the screws

Good win for freo. We kept Port to 2 goals midway through the 4th

I swear McPharlin was our best player in that game. He made it look easy. For some reason everytime the ball was bombed into ports forward 50 it felt like the ball was destined to land on his hands.

Lee Spur's head. 2 head clashes in which the opposition came off worst both times. How hard is this guys head.

Yeah I saw that, think they were both in the same quarter... or the same half possibly. Pretty effective tactic to neutralise an opponent... just head-butt 'em.
