I must admit I was frustrated with Rance and Vickery screwing everything up in their first few seasons under the banner of 'games into youth' while Post had to learn in the 2nds not getting his chance until he is ready.

Notsureifserious:confused:

Rance didn't get a game in 2008 the year after he was drafted, and at the end of last year he had 25 games to show for 3 years at the club. If Post plays this weekend he'll have played 22 games in his first 3 years - huge difference I must admit.

Vickery had a slightly better run, at the end of last year (his 2nd) he'd played 23 games. Post (who was taken in the same draft as Vickery) had played 14. Vickery was a top 10 pick for christ's sake! Whinging about him getting games over Post would be like sooking about Conca getting games over Helbig (in both cases the players can fill similar roles).

Anyway back on topic, Post has clearly shown enough this year that he is a lock to be on an AFL list next year. Having said that he is not a "required" player on our list and I believe if other clubs come sniffing we will seriously consider putting him up for trade. We may also use him as a sweetener to get a trade for a quality ruck done.

On the contrary, I see Post as an integral part of our team of the future.

CHF/CHB swingman, we only really have 2 players listed that can fill a role incase of injury or bad form Astbury & Post are the players that give us much needed Depth in both our foward & Backlines.

Jayden Post will become our version of jared waite he is a superb mark & Good reader of the play , The kid is just getting the body that allows him to play the role we want.

Hope we give him enough games next year & should get to see the real jayden post in 2013.

He wont be offered as trade unless a special player is involved.

I dont want Post to become another Shultz , he must be played to develop and someone get him pumping those legs on him for more muscle

I Think next year you will see a more muscular post than we have seen this year, The kids body shape has changed a fair bit in the last 2 years and is just starting to get used to it.

Another 5-6 kgs will just about do him , the last thing you want is to have him slow down too far & Not be able to get his ass off the ground in marking contests.

Astbury will become a monster in my opinion already put on 10kg in 1 year, These 2 boys will give us HUGE flexability with rotations between foward & Defence.

trade him while he has value not up to it got 4 or 5 kicked on him and everybody is raving how he has improved na

Post has shown enough to be given another go. Richard Cranium posts like this, however, well, we'll see how you fare troll.

Look, I'm not going to shy away from the fact it would be nice to see him a little ahead of where he is now, given he was drafted in the same year as Vickery, but by no means is there any reason to panic yet.

I think he will improve when he is settled in defence and given multiple weeks at AFL level. He's probably not quite where we hoped he'd be yet, but that's understandable when you spend your first few years back and forth AFL and VFL and between defence and attack on a weekly basis, sometimes even changing positions mid game. Not ideal for a young KPP.

Needs to be settled in defence over the summer, played there in all the preseason/NAB cup matches, then he can have a real crack in 2012. If he doesn't come on next year, then questions may be asked and so be it, but for now he deserves a chance. The one thing I DON'T want to see is him being trained/played as this so called "swingman". Rare is a player who can play genuinely well at both ends and if they can, they often started off in one position and moved on later in their career. And while some players can do it (Hurley), some need to be settled, particularly ones that lack confidence, Post strikes me as one of these guys. Post should be/will be fighting it out with Astbury for that CHB spot, with Grimes and Rance locks in the team. That competition is healthy.

On another note, the club needs to decide where Astbury will be played also. Rance, Grimes, Astbury and Post in the one defence starts to get a little top heavy and not nimble enough.

I've met the lad. He is a fine character and we want to have as many of those types around the club as possible.

He is tall. He is very mobile for his size and he has a good set of hands. He can kick with both feet and can read the play fairly well.

He needs to be left in the back line and told he is our CHB. He can then develop a chemistry with the other back line players.

Let Leppa have a go at developing him and I am sure he will go down the same path as Rance.

A definite KEEPER!

I have no issue if our backline reads:
FB: Newman, Rance, Grimes
HB: Batchelor, Post, Delidio.

What have we got to lose?
