Review Post Game Vs Freo

I agree, Freo just kept nailing their shots. If half had been off line the game could have ben on. Young guys can drop their heads when the chips are down but we kept fighting even with three players down.
That's true. We had 2 less scoring shots (probably had the same if you include Rooey's shanks) and 1 more inside 50 then the team on the top of the ladder. A bit more accurate and who knows what could have happened.

I said it weeks ago. Teams just flood our forward line & wait to counter attack when we turn it over with some shit kick aimed 25m out from our goal to no one...

Please tell me I'm not the only one that is becoming infuriated by this?

Just chip around the arc & find Savage, Newnes & just go deep for the goal or hit the goalsquare
Or Shenton...he also has the ability to finish from outside 50!

dont buy this, oh we won the last half bullshit. like its something to hang our hat on

freo went into training/rest up mode
Yep, I recongise that DF, but still, we didn't roll over and let them coast along. Underestimate our boys at your peril (We've shown that a few times this year already). That's not a great strategy long term, but at this stage in their development and consequent capabilities, that's a pleasing attribute that will be valuable later on.

Kind of agree, but it's a lot better than losing by 12 goals.

From the second quarter we were in the game, we just couldn't convert our opportunities and every time Freo had a chance they kicked straight. Was bloody frustrating.

end of the day game sucked, like many i was secretly looking for another upset.

back to reality, we played the top team in the league and in the first qrt it showed exactly where we are at. boys playing men. Freo kicked the ball forward so well. lowered the eyes and and sent it in low and fast. also it helps having a 7 foot Goliath to sit in the forward 50 with defenders having no chance to stop him.

umps pissed me right off. Roo gets a rough deal week in week out. i have never hoped a defender would redo a calf injury but Mc Pharlin is a FRAAAKen dirty player. anyway umps and roo are whole new thread.

Lonie and Sinclair are real high lights this year with Bruce. I like Blake A but not jumping up and down about him just yet. Lonie and Sinclair have really stamped there presence on a heap of games. You really notice them and they were not hyped up at all.

Goddard is going great another positive.

after half ime regardless of what Rossy told his chargers we didn't go into our shells we kept at it. wish we could convert a lot more as the pressure would have been back on them.

one of those games. but we're miles infront of last year and that's what i'm happy with that.

Fisher is required next year. Case closed.

Joey confirmed it on multiple ocassions. The young boys organised an end of season trip, but didn't invite any of the oldies. When it got out that that was the case, TC sent a half-baked sms invite to them. But by then, the old boys had decided they didn't want to go anyway. Joey sounded very good natured about it, and it was all said with a laugh. But yeah.

Maybe the kids didnt invite them because they didn't want any drama or people being set on fire . :D

I think we need to reign in our zone defence to cover a smaller area & make the opposition kick long, ie: exactly what opposition teams do to us every week. We appear to set our zone to cover off about 80m downfield, & about 40m across field. Id like to see that tightened to 50m downfield & 40m across field so we can shut down the space that allows our opposition to hit up those little 20-25m kicks from back pocket to half forward.

I understand that it may be a fitness issue in that our younger blokes dont have the stamina to work this set up week in week out, but really feel its worth tightening this up & seeing how it goes for the remaining 4 games.

I'd really love to see us do this to Sydney as their overall field kicking, for a team that is considered elite, is really pretty poor & will certainly keep us in the contest. Really close of the short options for blokes like Richards, Grundy, Smith, Shaw, Laidler off half back & it will hold us in good stead.

Thats the difference in quality between fwd 50 entries.. freo created real strong pressure at our chf and pushed back really hard causing us to bomb away. Checkmate. Compared to them moving the ball quickly and kicking to leading fwds at there end.. Ball movement and pressure is key. As we learnt against freo.

Yeah, what I was saying was that we had numerous shots from 40-50 out in the second quarter as did Freo. Difference was we missed all of ours while all but one of theirs was a goal. If we kicked a couple of ours and they missed a few of theirs, which is not unreasonable to expect, the scoreline would have been different at half time and we might have been in the game.

You don't think this was a set up for a Footy Show giggle? Oh and even if there is some truth in it what 19 year olds in general society want to hang out with 30+ year olds? OOps sorry, someone posted something very similar

Its the problem we have in most games - dodgy long bomb entries in to the 50. I can't get to games to see whats happening but from the Box there seems an inability to move the ball fast enough through the centre to create lead up space in the 50 so when we get there the opposition have set up and all we can do is the Long Bomb.

Then because the opposition have been able to get numbers back, so then we have multiple dodgy entries as they then kick it back to the centre where we outnumber them.

Creates an illusion of success because in the end we match them for I50 entries. Our lack of ability to hit targets and move the ball quickly through the middle is why I would hang onto Minchington (and why Geary must go)

One good qtr when the dockers stopped playing, having all ready won does not make up for three poor qtrs. We looked lost, the first time this year it really looked like men vrs boys.

Armo confirmed he didn't on the footy show the week later

He was also on the rush hour in the same week that Joey was on the hot breakfast stating that Joey, himself or Roo didn't get invited, and Rush Hour is very light hearted, Joey stated that Rooey wouldn't have gone anyway since he's going to Texas to be with the missus.

I don't buy into the whole divide though.

Its a bunch of 20 year olds forgetting that the veterans might still want to come on the footy trip and then feeling stupid when called out on it. Nothing more then that.

I think its pathetic that the older blokes are even talking about it..... FFS grow up for once please veterans

TBF, the radio spots I heard had the hosts pushing the issue more so than it being volunteered, dunno how their TV media spots went since you know, footy shows are generally shizen.
