Most posties are flogs. I love setting my dog onto them just for the lulz.

What cartoon world are you living in?

Also how much interaction are you doing with posties that you've reached the conclusion that most of them are flogs? I think I've only ever exchanged greetings once or twice in my life with the postman.

I may be wrong but aren't the posties duties typically subcontracted, so the vehicle isn't owned or maintained by Australia Post?

At the moment we employ the posties, but after the Truck Drivers they are next in line to be sub contracted when that moment comes (and it will be when rather than if).

The reason the brakes squeal is because they are drum brakes and the rear brake gets filled up with sand and dirt daily. Even though they get serviced every 1500km and cleaned every week, they will just start squealing as soon as more sand gets in. Its one of the problems that arise when people have sandpits in front of their letterboxes.

But not everyone lives on the beach.

I thought it was deliberate having noisy brakes as part of OH&S so people were aware that a bike was approaching. I may be wrong but they all can't have the exact same issue that never gets fixed. And from a safety point of view (except possible damage to the ears it seems) it makes sense.

In the olden days, the posties on pushbikes used to blow a whistle to let you know you have mail, so I guess the squeaky brakes is for the same reason. :D

When I owned a Post Office I used to do a mail run as a sub-contractor. Couldn't get rid of that contract quick enough. AusPost are a joke and extremely tight arsed.
