you made a reference to using an AK47 from your backyard against another poster. Whether or not he accepted your warped version is irrelevant. You made the threat. You also stated that people with violent tendencies should be stamped out. Does this include yourself?

just so FP can read skips post.

Firstly,I know SK is on your ignore list, its why I am quoting you so he can see :p

Secondly , your obviously not a parent(and why I dont understand the call by mantis) I have seen my son ''love'' a cat a bit too much , and a gentle reminder that hugging big fat daddy is different than hugging a little kitten.

Now should I get my gun out and shoot my son? I mean by your standard he has violent tendencies and should be ''struck out''. At what level does violence towards an animal or human being become ''psycopathic'' ? A slap? A punch? A knife attack? If you have standards please find a level you can accept then let me know
No, I am not a parent. What relevance that has to this I have no idea.
Second, I have had a pet dog murdered by home invaders, thus I am somewhat inclined to be extremely harsh towards such things as cruelty to animals. the injuries my dog sustained and the suffering she went through for no reason other than she was defending her property were disgusting and a reminder of the sort of society in which we live. Which leads me to Thirdly, I grew up with a second cousin who was first sent to Borstal ( boys remand home ) for drowning kittens in the lavatory, an activity he thought was great fun. Instead of being dealt with correctly ( i. e lobotomised , given extensive physical and medical therapy or similar ), he was ' counselled ' and ' rehabilitated '. - in other words treated with kid gloves Upon release he became an insatiable, roundly feared schoolyard bully who was extremely violent towards students and teachers. More counselling and soft kokery. He then graduated to car theft, assault and battery, and is now serving a life sentence in the pokey for murder.
Moral of the story: jump on violence hard the minute it manifests, as it's like a cancer - it grows and gets more malignant.
WRT your sitiuation as mentioned, at the risk of backlash I hope you made it quite clear to your child that young animals are very delicate beings and must be handled with extreme care. There is a difference between violent behaviour and accident.

The relevance as a parent is that one day you may be faced with your own extreme measures against your OWN child? Will you accept a lobotomy on your child? Or accept them been locked up at 12 because they left a dog tied up?

I did explain to my son the differences and that animals are delicate and that there are different ways to hold and care for animals.

As you get older and your life circumstances change I would hope the extreme measures you advocate are softened..or I will guarantee any child you raise will be far more dangerous than an 11 year old who harms animals. It seems to me you advocate no holds barred tough love. And that has been proven to be worse than a no boundary self fulfillment attiude towards kids. IMO you need a mixture of both.

If my own child did wrong, or committed such horrific acts, then yes, I would support this.

Good. At least I can respect you for that.

As you get older and your life circumstances change
I turn 37 on Sunday, so I doubt I'm going to soften any from hereon.

Tommyrot mate, if and when I have children, and if I have my way I won't, they will be brought up to know the difference between right and wrong and they will have no doubt whatsoever in their mind any transgression of the rules will be at their detriment

Seen the difference between the two poles in my own family, the kids brought up by the strict and orderly parents have grown up to be responsible and well behaved adults, the kids brought up in homes with sloppy discipline have been ferals and teararses. so I'd say my approach is the best one..
IMO you need a mixture of both
Spare the rod, spoil the child. Simple concept.

Apples and oranges, otaku. Dogs are dimb animals and are not as intellectually developed as humans.

no, actually the way you train both is very similar.

You treat any animal (including humans) with the whip only, they will not respond, same goes for kindness.

There needs to be a blend of the two.

wishing death on another poster?? You and mantis should start a club.

The irony is fantastic.
and even more ironic is that ron condoned the murder of me - the irony of you telling ron it's ironic is delicious

Appreciate your effort otaku but I can do without reading this bloke's twaddle.

Any chance of explaining your violent tendencies and whether they should be stamped out, or does your theory of extermination only apply to others.

What pole are you from?

The pole that advocates violence with the use of rifles?
