I reckon the Crows have got some good young kids and I can't understand what has happened since 2009. It looked like the club was building towards another flag tilt.

You would think with a new coach coming in that there will be some heads to role. Vince comes across as potential trade bait imo.

Yeah, but we are not going to just give him away to the first club that asks. We will not have a going out of business sale.

Fair and equitable trades only and Gram doesn't meet what we expect.

Vince would be considered trade bait by other clubs because his value is at a record low. I'd rather see how he goes under a new coach. If a club was willing to pay overs expecting him to return to 2009 form or thereabouts, then you'd consider it, but that very rarely happens. If ever.

For the Crows to get value for him they would need to trade him this year. He will be 27 y/o next year so I couldn't see many clubs interested in him if he has another year like he has the last couple. Its a fine line and a gamble. Crows should be looking to offload him imo. Same with Gram for the Saints.

I agree with TLE in that unless he has a 2009 like season, then his value is only going down from here. Add his dodgy knees into the equation and I'd be more inclined to pull the trigger sooner rather than later.

How much do you think he would be worth on the trade table in terms of a draft pick this year?

Probably in the vincinity* of 25-30? How much do you think he would be worth on the trade table next year if he repeats that form next season? 30-35? No great loss imo. I'd rather gamble on him improving with us unless we're offered a 10-20 sort of pick (won't happen). And if we shop him around, other clubs will immediately start thinking, there must be something very wrong with him and stay away. We need some obsessed Vince fan to knock down our door and offer something solid (again, won't happen).

Gram for Vince is trading couldabeen for couldabeen. I'd rather try to get best out of the devil we know.

*not a typo, excuse the pun

Honestly you'd probably find a club that's close to a premiership (Hawks & Blues) give up a late first rounder for him in that vicinity that you're after. I could definitely see GWS offering pick 10 -20 with all the picks they have. If he has another poor year next year whose to say that no one will want him and he'll end up in the scrapheap? I maintain that he's still got some currency but that can quickly dwindle.

If that's the case, then the decision is easy and we are in agreeance.

If he asked to leave, trade.

However, if he's happy to stay and work on his deficiencies and the new coach will winning to keep him - he stays.

Cant see a new coach being ultra trade aggressive in his first 5 minutes at the club unless his hand is forced by a mass exodus.

Why would he want to leave a club that will being playing regularly finals to join a club that is rebuilding it's list?

You could pretty much say that about every player playing for a team above us. In that case we proberbly cant trade anyone. Why would they want to come to a 14th placed team?

We can always hope a star SA born player gets home sick.

We should be looking at players who are from SA, with a bit of quality about them and struggling to break into their current side and then hit them up to move clubs for more opportunities.

Are there many? Most of the ones with quality are high draft picks and clubs would be reluctant to let them go. Cooney, Griffen, Trengove, Gibbs, Day, Polec, Tape, Menzel, Tapscott..etc

I'm sure their would be some the club, Matthew Rendell and other people at the club would rate as quality players. They would have a far bigger datebase on player than I do.

But that would be the strategy I would be using.

You had your chance to take Redden at the 2008 draft and you took Davis hoping Redden would be available in the 2nd Round but missed out. Your best bet to get Fisher is by free agency if St Kilda start to tumble down the table I would think.
I would have thought that most players who would consider moving on would be wanting GWS to look at them so they can get $$$ and that would mean that getting many trades would be unlikely this year. I think that getting quality young midfielders in would more important at this stage.

Ryan Griffen could be attainable. WB's might start to have a bit of a clean-out if they don't make the finals (starting with Lake etc. first). If Griffen doesn't see them as a competitive finals team he maybe tempted by the "go home factor". WB's would fight hard to keep him but in a situation like the one I've mentioned we would have leverage. He could be a useful addition to our midfield. We would probably need to give up a young KPP to get him (e.g. Talia) so this deal could only happen if we kept Davis (likely?). If we get Eade (probably not my fav choice for a young team) maybe they could both come? Just a thought...

He said 'no' to us last year or the year before when we chased him hard.
Yes, but circumstances have changed. WB aren't even a remote chance now. Not saying that performance-wise we are a better option but the calls from AFC might seem a bit more interesting if he doesn't see a future at WB.

Word on the Carlton Board is that 5AA reported Adelaide have interest in Paul Bower.

As knowledgeable and balanced as the Carlton board when it comes to trading and recruiting rumours , I'd suggest you put that one through the bullshit filter considering it came from 5AA.
