I cant believe we live in a age that can fly planes, drive cars, and have 100 story buildings yet there is still poverty. I think that countries like america should get of there ass, stop thinking about themselves and help these bloody africans because we all no they cant do it themselves. The african kids shouldnt have to suffer because of the countries hopeless economies.
 
I think a lot of the poverty in Africa is due to Civil War. You can't just hand them food or money, it doesn't solve the underlying issues. There's no simple solution to the problem.

Not having a crack, but these people in these "poor" countries know thay they arent that well off, so why bring another life into this world and therefore make them suffer.

third world countries suffer from over population, lack of medicines to deal with epidemics, corrupt governments, genocides and the citizens suffer from incredibly high tax rates, for example in tanzania the 30% tax rate comes in at $US75, not to mention they are not endowed with high amounts of natural resources.

The US donates more money and personnel in aid than any other industrialised western country and it also has its own poverty to deal with. The US has to deal with illegal immigration from Mexico also, at last estimate the US had 12 million illegal aliens.

The US can't just throw money at the problem. The US is always going to be reluctant to pursue another humanitarian intervention given the difficulty it had in leading UN interventions in Somalia 1992-3, Rwanda 1994 and Kosovo 1999.

I'm pretty sure it's per capita as well. The US gets bagged an awful lot, but they really do do a lot. As Cult Hero pointed out, its not just a money issue. Finding the cure for AIDS will go a long way to helping the African nations more than anything. So in all honesty that should be the main priority. Also medicines for other diseases is a must. The third section, concerning civil wars is the hardest to control, and understandably don't want to get involved like they have previously. Stop the civil wars, stop AIDS, and the world poverty will drop instantaneously. The IMF is also critical to the economic health of Africa, but TBH that's a side issue. It's great that you care deeman, if you want to do more, get involved with World Vision. My sister works for them and has done some great work. Also consider taking some politics topics if you go to university, they open up your eyes to the world like nothing else.

I think i might get into politics in UNI. My teacher was telling me that no one in the class knows half as much as i do and i have alot of general knowledge. Also to the guy that said that why do the parents bring kids into the world if they have aids, if they are suffering and so on, the catholic church is the main problem there, they condemn contraception, saying if you dont want kids dont have sex.
 
Why are pov countries so rich in culture ?
And why do we pity them with our consumable western society veiws ?
The truth is they were alot better off without us.

Blame Africans.

It's African despots keeping their peoples poor, not countries like America.

Many African nations have the resources to provide income which could be used to set up proper infrastructures within their own nation.

But as most are ruled by corrupt governments so the only people that get rich are the pollies while the people suffer.

Look at Zimbabwe, it has become a far worse place to live and work in since one of it's own took over.

Uganda is the only African nation with a large Catholic population, strangely enough it has one of the lowest rates of AIDS.

You seem like a religious person yet you swear at me. The pope is always saying that contraception is wrong, and i also saw on tv a number of times, african people saying they want to use condoms but they arent allowed because of the church. And there are a fair bit of catholics in Africa and you will notice that most of them have Aids, because they arent allowed to use condoms they bring in Diseased kids. Now lets go to Egypt which is in Africa, the population is 70 million, 50 of those being muslim and 20 being christian, the christians are orthodox and the orthodox church allows contraception if you are married, now why isnt there as many people with AIDS in Egypt as there are in many other catholic countries.

Why make that statement when you have no proof to back it up?

The fact is only 1 in 9 Africans are Catholic, as opposed to 1 in 4 in Australia.

Thus Africa is not very catholic at all.

The only majorly Catholic african nation is Uganda.

So tell me genius how it's the Catholic churches fault for the AIDS epidemic in Africa when the vast majority have nothing to with the church or its teachings?

Theres 900,000,000 million africans, so one in nine means 100,000,000 catholics, not many catholics at all. You idiot tell me does the catholic church approve of condoms and other forms of contraception? the answer is NO, thats why the catholics all probably have AIDS. Egypt has 20 million christians, most of which being of the orthodox church which approves the use of contraception in marriage, how many of those have AIDS. Not many would have STDs.

People in Uganda are also being taught the ABCD's. A=Abstinence, B=Be Faithful, C=Condom use, or D=Death.

What case?

Fact: abstinence is a far better method of preventing aids than condoms.

As you said they are being taught ABCD.

What's #1 there champ?

I'm not saying condoms aren't an effective way, but the churches teaches being faithful to ones partner and abstinence are the only true ways to avoid getting AIDS, as condoms arent fail proof.
 
The problem is that the church condemns contraception even in marriage. Its not fair that diseased parents bring kids with AIDS into the world.

Just out of curiosity i would like to know are you a practising catholic? Also tell me why does the catholic church condemn the use of condoms in marriage? I understand that you arent meant to have sex out of wedlock but why are you not allowed to wear a condom or take the pill if you are married.
