With Detroit winning the championship...and a possible move to the Heat by Shaq....do you think it will signal a shift in the power from West to East?

...or was the Pistons winning the title just a blip and the West will provide this seasons NBA Champion.

The East was destined to even up the disparity, but I think that's all out the window with the moves of Carlos Boozer and Kenyon Martin (presumably) to the West.

The East should have had five elite teams (Detroit, Indiana, New Jersey, Miami, Cleveland)... but will now have three. Who is the fourth best team in the East... Orlando?

On the otherhand, the West has about 10 squads that on paper appear to be be playoff worthy, but teams are going to miss out.

Its only a matter of time before the east is once again dominant. If you look at the lottery picks the past 4-5 years, most of the top bigmen have gone to the east, Bosh, Howard, Okafor, Chandler, Curry, Brown, Milicic, Diop to name a few... then theres players like Wade and Lebron who are guarenteed perrenial allstars... the arrivals of Shaq, Rasheed, Marbury, McDyess the east looks good this upcoming season. Also if we look at the lottery picks from this year.

1. Howard
2. Okafor
3. Gordon
6. Childress
7. Deng
8. Araujo
9. Iguodala
10. Jackson

8 of the top 10 prospects are drafted by teams from the East.

In 3 years time

EAST > WEST

2005 Eastern All-stars

PG - Francis
SG - James
SF - Artest
PF - J.Oneal
C - Oneal

Will destroy anything the West has got ;)

Don't forget McGrady. I don't like him, but he's still a helluva player which strengthens the West.

destroy that team? and you forgot VC on the east, he always starts.

The West will look more like this.

PG - Bibby
SG - Kobe
SF - KG
PF - Duncan
C - Ming

Vince will be traded out of the east it seems, possibly to Dallas.

You actually think bibby or b.davis will get more votes than T-mac?
Even though T-mac might not be the man of the team anymore (Ming) I think he'll start the ASG. Also I'm not sure if Francis will start over Iverson but it's way too early to predict anyway.
