Pre-Season Draft

All i know is that we got pick 1. What other picks do we have for this draft? Is it the same as the National Draft? Who should we target???

Someone correct me if I am wrong but I think the number of picks in the PSD depends on how many picks a club decides to "pass on" in the National Draft. If you pass one you get that pick in the PSD, if you pass 2 you get two of them and so on

I think it comes down to how many players we have on the list.

In my dream world, I would love to land another gun like Nick Stevens in Bartel or Power for free.
Realistically, I think we might get Salopek in the PSD as he wants out of Port unlike the other two and could very likely walk out on the club.

You lodge your list to the AFL and they look at your TPP (total player payments). If you have less than 38 players and are under the cap then you can use your picks if you want.

The National Draft is November 26 this year.

Uncontracted players must nominate by Nov 29 (Bartel, Salopek etc if they are still unsigned and want to go into the PSD)

Dec 2 you lodge your lists with the AFL and they determine your TPP (all your delistings are made by then)

Dec 13 PSD

I did ask this earlier in another thread, But I've heard Daniel Merrett is out of contract. That'd be a prime pick-up for Carlton. Has anyone heard if he's re-signed?

He is QLD boy so would be next to impossible to get him down here. Brisbane have put a lot of work into developing him so they wont be letting him go with there lack of talls in the future.
Adcock was the one I wanted but he has JUST been re-signed. A Vic boy and has had a great year.

Didn't Adcock ask for one more year after being up for trade, a couple of years ago? I bet Brisbane are glad they gave him that year.

I think Luke Jericho might be worth a shot at the trade table. Had a shocker in the SANFL this year but seems to step up when he plays at a higher level. Has Commonwealth Games like 100m times and might make a really good tall winger in time. I'm not sure you'd have to give a lot for him.

Well if Adelaide dont make the GF or win the premiership this year they might well have a crack at Fev. They asked about him 2 years ago and apparently have made an enquiry about him this year.
That is 1 way of getting Jericho, Reilly and others.

If Carlton don't trade much i would say they would aim to pick up two players in the PSD.

I would hate to waste a low draft pick on him if he is not going to cut the mustard.

every year there is always some hype on some unproven player who supposedly hasn't had a fair go.

I think he has some serious potential but for various reasons such as home sickness can't deliver at Port
Carlton won't waste a low draft pick for him, realistically I think Pick 36 and a fringe player.
