who do you think will nominate for the pre-season draft and who do you think carlton will take. im thinking daniel motlop or jono hay might be in it. who do you think carlton would want out of those two or do you think we will go for another unknown like we did last year with betts?

hay is contracted for 2006 so he can't nominate unless he and hawthorn agree to end the contract- that wont happen

maybe motlop, campo, lappin, woewodin, c scott, b scott, heffernan

there will be a lot of fringe players, doubt there will be many stars in PSD

There only needs to be one star in the PSD for Carlton too be happy :D
Frankly, I'd be happy with Motlop as long as his contract is reasonable and he wants to play for Carlton. Otherwise I would be more than happy to draft another youngster.

Hopefully we force Selwood into the PSD. He is a good, hard young midfielder who is out of contract.

That's the ideal situation as far as I'm concerned.

Would be happy with Daniel Merrett, if he slipped through, as well.

You'd have...

Waite, Whitnall, Fisher
Merrett, Fevola, Betts

or if you drop Whitnall back in defence...

Walker, Waite, Fisher
Merrett, Fevola, Betts

Let's not reignite the Merrett debate again though.

And where is the room in the sallary cap with Whitnall and Fevola both staying?

Campo 250 k = GONE

Lappin 300k = GONE

Lance 500 k = >400 k

Beaumont 150 k = GONE

Mckernan 200 k = GONE

Thats a truckload of money saved

Yes it could....there's a good chance it will. Haven't you seen what he has had to say about Hawthorn?? He called them liars and how they won't be going anywhere for a few years etc...I would think Hawthorn wouldn't want a player like that playing for them.

when has he said he wants to play for carlton?

He hasn't, thats why I'm saying that we'd only want him if his contract is reasonable and he would want to play for Carlton.
I'm worried because he seems to want to go to Port and not to stay in Vic, so picking him up could be a bit of a gamble.

Port Adelaide just released Brent Montgomery today.

Is a 32 year old worth a look at for a couple of seasons?

No... we go for youth or we are straight back into the same situation where we are now...

I suggested Montgomery because I'm concerned over the quality of players likely to feature in the PSD. Plus, we have so many holes to fill in our side that Montgomery might be a handy pickup for a few years, perhaps playing a similar role to Mark Graham at Richmond.

It's also doubtful that we'd find a viable youth in the PSD. Personally I'd rather take my chances on a past Port Adelaide B&F than with an unknown player.

Pick up camporeale.......stick to to Essendon and Campo for being such tight wads, then drop Campo to the reserves for the remainder of the year.

your right on haw not wanting a player with hay's current attitude but
hay will be traded- hence haw not allowing him to enter PSD

freo have dropped out so haw have no other choice but to trade
haw are not silly enough to let a player go with no return

if a player in contracted he can not nominate for PSD unless both parties agree to end the contract.
now hay is contracted for 2006 so he can't nominate unless he and hawthorn agree to end the contract

Selwood from Brisbane looks the most likely I reckon.

Apparently Bartel is still yet to sign with Geelong after it was reported a couple of weeks ago he was close to a new deal.

agree. that would be sweet revenge!

If we can get Selwood to walk then he would be an awesome pick up. Good young midfielder who is actually accountable.

After Selwood the rest are pretty much useless and I'd hope we go for a kid.

Go Denis get Selwood.

Selwood-simple as that unless some big name player has gone underthe radar and hasn't re-signed. I accept Campo is gone but we must keep Lappin.
