I will make a prediction now in response to all the ladders that have been put up.

There is absolutely no way that Fremantle will finish ahead of Adelaide next season. Not a chance in hell.

Not just because Adelaide have a far, far better list, but also Fremantle has the lowest standards in the leauge. I mean honestly, how could the Freo players live with themselves, basking in the applause of the Subi crowd after their embarassing display against Essendon?

Freo are a bigger chance for the wooden spoon than the top four.

As for the other places, a lot of it depends on injuries. However I worry about Port Adelaide. You can't lose players like Paxman, Stevens and Kingsley without it having some effect, and I doubt that Wanganeen and Tredrea will have the stellar seasons they had this year. Francou will need to be fit.

If we lived in your world, then yes. In the real world, Freo is a young list, Adelaide is and absolutely ancient list.

I'd say your pretty harsh saying that Freo has more chance of finishing bottom than in the top four because so do Adelaide. Freo have a great young list who I think should just scrape the 4 and win 1 final.

And Sydney play to the crowd far more than any team possibly could having being at a game against the swans. They get free kicks when they aint there because the crowd cheer BALLLLL whenever they throw there arms out and boo when they don't get a free. Sounds familiar to most crowds admittedly but Sydney do it to a greater extent.

However, I agree that Port will struggle.

After Rd 22

1. Brisbane (Too strong, too good, too hungry still)
2. West Coast (Don't seem to lose at home but will struggle come finals time again)
3. Port Adelaide (Aren't bad during the year but wouldn't be surprised to see them crash out of the finals early again)
4. Essendon (If Hird is fit more often than not, this mob can give the Lions a fright or two)
5. Sydney (Will rely heavily on the form of Adam Goodes and other improved Swans but they should continue to play finals footy for at least another year)
6. Hawthorn (Showed enough late in the year to suggest continued improvement but don't expect miracles from this lot)
7. Adelaide (One last shot at it from the veterans but their tired boys will need plenty of help from the younger Crows)
8. Fremantle (Still learning all round, expect finals if they can continue to win at home)
9. Collingwood (Saturday will suck a lot of confidence out of this mob, will need to start well to regain it and just aren't as good as the last three months showed)
10. Richmond (If trade period looks after them they'll start well but again fall in a hole)
11. Kangaroos (Hate to put them in so low and won't be surprised to see them sneak a finals place. Are always brave and will not be disgraced at all)
12. St Kilda (Plenty of talent but don't be too caught up in the hype of the latter rounds. Need Gehrig to produce or there just aren't enough goals)
13. Western Bulldogs (Will win more games than last year but it's going to be a long proccess)
14. Geelong (Tell me what you like about their talented young list, they don't have enough talent to make it out of the bottom 8)
15. Melbourne (A Demons fan here and expecting very little. Wouldn't like to see them shoot straight up the ladder and Daniher still have a job. 2005 is the year and Lyon is the coach)
16. Carlton (Nobody wants to play with them, nobody wants to watch them, nobody sems to care anymore)

Eagles and Freo. Both young lists with young coaches who played out of their skins this year. Both sides showed lots, had great room for improvement, and the tremendous home ground advantage (but they bravely overcame the travel difficulty the other way).
Were not the Dockers one of the better travelling sides this year?

This year, Adelaide during a final had an average age of 27!!
Yes "27"!!
This year was adelaides now or never year.
Bickley gone, smart gone, Hart will battle with age, as will Carey and Burns. Age putting holes in most areas of the ground for adelaide.

Fremantle are not losing anyone due to age, only gaining experience, and a bit more bulk into their young limbs. So I'd like to hear your theory on why they will finish bottom four.

Eeeep!!! I've thrown myself at the defence of fremantle 3 posts in a row! :(

In order and with an explanation

Brisbane (hard to go past, great team and my bet for a 4th Premiership)

Collingwood (overrated but cant go past them, could win a flag next year but def. top 2, they have the core palyers that will get them over the line, they always do)

Sydney (Great year for the swans. i'm sure they will learn fom experience and have another great season. should finish top 4 if they play aswell as last year. i think they'll go much better)

Port Adelaide (will be a great team again next year, will make top 4, the worry is finals. maybe down a bit from last year if nick stevens goes)

West Coast (will step up again next year, great young talent, with most games won at Subiaco and mayb a few interstate wins)

Fremantle (like west coast, great young talent and will step up a notch next year. most games won at home and i'm guessing a few more away wins)

Adelaide (cant go past Adelaide for a top 8 finish. never doubt Wayne Carey could be there wild card. there's still talent there i'm tipping top 8)

Essendon,Hawthorn,Kangaroos,St.Kilda (either of these teams are worthy of a top eight positition. I think St.kilda is still another couple of years away from pressing for a top 8 position. great talent, still very young. showed what they can do towards the end of the year but i dunt think can cpontain that throughout a whole year. If jade rawlings and a few other trades go the kangaroos way i think they will be a much more improved unit. showed plenty last year to show they are still around. e.g draw with brisbane, wins against adelaide, sydney and essendon and a close encounter with West Coast. Essendon and hawthorn have there balanced sides. Much like north, if certain trades go there way and they keep there core list will press for a top 8 finish)

for me it will be alot like this year. very similiar the top 8!!

Don't worry Roo, I welcome your comments.

You obviously watch more than one game each weekend and may be more of a beer drinker than a lover of chardonay, but we won't tell anyone that you may be a "closet" appreciator of Freo's improvement.

Now can I support the Weagles 3 posts in a row, the challenge is on.

As for Freo next year, consolidation is the word, with similar number of wins but close up the losing margins, better winning margins and thus improved percentage. Should be around 4 -6.

1. Port
(Have been the best during the minor round for last 2 years, not too many reasons why they shouldn't be again. Francou will be a very welcome return.)

2. Brisbane
(Had a lot of injury worries in 2003 and still finished top 3).

3. Collingwood
(Still have a young and very good team. Confidence may be an issue after last 2 GF losses).

4. St Kilda
(Sticking my neck out and predicting them to be the big improvers next year. Am predicting them to be top 2 early in the season, then drop off a bit.)

Positions 5-8 will be between:

Adelaide
Sydney
Fremantle
West Coast
Hawthorn
