My unrealistic wish list would be:

Melbourne absolutely love Robey and go hard for him knowing they still have 2 first rounders next year. We swap 3, 38 and a future second for 7 and 8. I know we need a second next year but we could worry about that next year.

Then the draft (without bids) goes:

Phillipou excites me as much anyone in this draft but taking him at 3 or 4 is too big of a call to make. Adding those three and the flexibility and depth our midfield could have in the future would be so exciting.

At the same time they need ready to go support for Reid to try and keep him. I think they will go for CDT and Robey. which means we will get Duursma and Grlj or Cumming

the Grlj love has me shot. Love his athleticism, but he’s a skinny half back flanker, untried midfielder, who butchers the ball. Not even top 20 for mine.

Looking at our list profile these all fill a need

Having said that highly rate farrow and would take him over cumming

Cumming is the butcher king so don’t follow your logic for Grlj

Just had another thought. What if WC bid on Uwland at one and Patterson at two. Would GC have the points to match. Paterson and Robey would be a great get for WC

I think he’s more a Lachie Ash type but not as good a kick as Ash. Grjl would have better midfield capabilities tho.

Since Grilj played for the VFL.

I expect we will pick Sharp & Cummings/Taylor

Potentially, I still think it’s a win for us if we got Sharp, Grlj and Phillipou. Our future midfield would be very deep and versatile. Replacing Phillipou with one of melbournes future firsts could be another option but only think they would consider gold coasts and not there’s and then we’d likely say no.

Second rounders push back so far after free agency compensation these days that they really aren’t worth what they should be.

He gets heaps of it a real accumulative mid who has good movement. I want a player that gets heaps of ball and uses it neatly
