Petrie is the danger man. If Hooker fails, what's the plan? Watching every NM kick in go direct to Petrie last time, and Hille literally warching Petrie mark sent me to the bar in desperate need for a drink!

Probably Ryder, very similar build and play style to Cloke, could do the trick again.

Pears.

Petrie is very strong one-on-one - Think that Hooker is the best match up - Then go for Fletcher - We will be struggling if we have to move Pears onto Petrie - It is imperative that we have a third man free to assist Petrie's opponent.

Last time we played the Kangaroo's Pears matched up on Edwards - This may happen again.

Is the general consensus to play the 3 rucks? So far I'm seeing sort of split opinion here, I think it's probably a good idea against norf, what with goldstein and hmac

It's a viable option, but all would depend on who is used as sub

mcveigh in the forward just sticks out like a sore thumb. oh well. hope he proves me wrong

+1 on Carlisle not playing
Wasn't it a trend last season, perhaps more so in the second half, where Watson would play 20-30min in the first half of a game from the forward pocket, then leave him in on the ball for the rest of the game (not incl rotations off the bench)?

While I don't think McVeigh will play in the fwd pocket (or will play much on the ball), stranger things have happened.

Fletch Pears McVeigh
Hibberd Hooker Heppell
Stanton Hocking Melksham
Monfries Hurley Zaka
Jetta Crameri Colyer

Ryder Watson Howlett

Hardingham Dempsey Hille
Myers

Ive got Myers as the SUB - is pretty versatile and can come on and have an impact on the ball if needed. So many options down back now with guys like Myers, Hibberd, Hardingham, Heppell, Dempsey etc etc.
Felling pretty confident about this game - Zeibell out a big bonus for us.

I thought it was Hocking, I see to remember Edwards taking a couple of hangers on him.

It was Pears first game after injury - Gave him 1 vote in the BF Award.

Am I the only one who thinks Ryder is a better ruckman than Hille and Hille is a better forward than Ryder?
You're half right. IMHO.
Hille is not that good forward. Of course, I've recently learned that when he was watching from the stands, he should be doing more than JUST WATCHING PETRIE MARK IT.
They do seem to like him down there, taking a bit of physical heat off Hurley and generally getting in the way (often trying to work 1-2 men out of the way when the ball's in the air).

B: Fletcher - Pears - Hardingham
HB: Dempsey - Hooker - Hibberd
C: Zaharakis - Watson - Heppell
HF: Monfries - Hurley - Jetta
F: Crameri - Ryder - McVeigh
Foll: Hille - Hocking - Stanton
Int: Howlett, Myers, Melksham
Sub: Colyer

The team pretty much picks itself at the moment. I'd be very surprised to see anyone else in the 22 come Saturday night.
IMHO there's only a few spots which are in any doubt.
They'll toss up Jetta/back, McVeigh/forward and whether one of Dell'Olio or Winderlich comes in - that's about it.

I presume if they go that way, Monfries, Howlett & Colyer will be in doubt.

Would think we'll basically play close to the team that played against sydney/brisbane

Key Backs - Hooker, Pears, Fletcher

Smalls/Mediums - Hibberd, Hardingham, Dempsey, Heppell

Mids - Think Howlett will get the nod over Lonergan, as will Myers.

So Watson, Hocking, Stanton, Myers, Howlett, Zaharakis, Melksham,

Forwards, Keys Hurley, Crameri, Resting Ruck Hille/Ryder, I think Carlisle will miss probably due to team balance. although I would love to see him out there though.

For the smalls/mediums, think Winderlich will miss after only playing 1/2 game all preseason,

Monfries, Jetta, McVeigh, Colyer

I'm not sold on Spike playing as that defensive/small forward, he will compete and give his all, but doubt how damaging he can be. In saying that he'll add some experience in the forward line. Would really like to see the likes of Reimers, Winderlich, putting pressure on him in for that role. Same goes for Dell'olio.

Lonergan very stiff imho, love the way he goes about it, but just think Myers and Howlett offer more versatile options. One of my favorites is Lonergan, really stood up when Hocking and Watson were missing last season.

What was he meant to do?
Honestly.

Maybe WAIT UNTIL HE'S ACTUALLY PLAYING before having a pot shot. Nuffies.

Classic.

No, actually, I expect him to come flying out of the stands, suited up. Reasonable expectation.
