The last time i had a "preference" was in 1997 when i preferred the Crows to the Dogs

We all know how that worked out

I said from then on I'd never prefer a finals opponent again.

Take whoever

Got to beat the best to be the best.

If he has a pool do it there, plenty of space!
Just keep the damn helipad free this time wouldja, I had to park the chopper down at the local oval last time!

It's the Friday.

And I will need to do likewise...not gonna be easy taking the Saturday off the next night with my 19th...

Eek.

first - i'm glad i booked my flights and accomodation for the friday and the saturday.

second - i'll be going to both prelims but will be happy to put in an appearance at your 19th A2R :D

Can anyone actually make a case for how Lions can beat the dogs? I just can’t see that happening.

Carlton were 30 points up on them in the 4th at the gabba, who were beaten by Adelaide by almost 100 points the week before.
If Rats had any brains or defensive smarts they never would have lost that game.

On the other hand WB lost by 2 goals to a very good Geelong and the dogs kicking efficiency was unusually low for them.

Add to this that Lions have injuries to key players; JB will play with a broken eye, Black, Merrett, all carrying injuries.
There is absolutely no way the Lions will beat the Bulldogs. It would take nothing less than a miracle

Get ready for a saints dogs Prelim!

Yeah I can see a Dogs v Saints prelim.

I would prefer the Lions, because even though the time we defeated them earlier the margin was small, I just can't see them beating us in front of our Melbourne crowd and with Riewoldt fit and healthy (was ill when played Lions last time).

Either way though, not scared of Dogs either, we have defeated them comfortably both times (one without Kosi) so hoping we can push through to the granny

Considering theres an oval across the road, it's not too much of an issue? :thumbsu:

Negative. Plenty of space on the roof though.

Ok. IWAGD will be driving. Do you have a spot to park his Hummer?

As above.

Disappointed to hear IWAGD's driving though, crashing in his car I shall presume?

Getting there is the only thing we are concerned about. We'll worry about getting home at some other time.

I don't have a preference - hope the Brisbane Lions win on Friday nite, and I think they can cause an upset

Is our prelim on friday night or Saturday night?

Looking forward to kicking the feet up and watching our opponents slug it out. Hopefully the dogs don't demolish them in an easy win. We need the lions to push them all the way.

I also hope the crows slaughter the pies and that will shape up as a very tough pre-lil for the Cats.

Brisbane would be easier, but I'm fairly confident it will be the Dogs. On the Geelong board, they have already won their PF apparently and are talking about how they are going to dismantle our gameplan in the GF.
No one is paying Adelaide much respect and I reckon they could be our opponents again, should we make the GF. Geelong only beat Crows by 2 pts at SS round 18 and aren't a sure thing, considering how Crows are playing now.

Adelaide was always going to be the one to cause either us or the Pies to go out in straight sets because they were "white hot"... when it was convenient to think so. As soon as you get into the position though "oh they haven't beaten the top 4 pfft easybeats!" echo as a chorus and the fickle knowledge base rears its ugly heads.

Best scenario for us is as stated already, thatthe Dogs v Lions is a tough and bruising encounter while the Adelaide v Pies game is complete and total domination by the Crows over the filth. While I'm not worried about them (considering we have shown we can beat them regardless of how they're traveling to then do it once more) they're peaking at the right time so I'd be very uncomfortable abotu a repeat of 97 if it works out like that, like a niggle in the back of my head.

But yeah, people shouldn't be writing them off, they'll surprise Collingwood especially if they get a couple of early injuries to compound this week.

Plus as the highest ceded team we should get the benefit of an 8 day break, should we win, rather than the Cats.

I remember this happening in 97 when we finished top and we played north on the Friday night. I was angry then because they were Friday night specialists. Then I was very happy. Then I was very sad.

i think adelaide will beat the pies, not easily but that they should go down against geelong.
