Well my theory is in 1989 Geelong Versed Hawthorn in the grand final and hawhtorn won,now in 1990 we won the flag this year hawthorn versed geelong and won in 2009 it could be us who win

LOL ok this might be random and i was bored. ok i was on wikipedia and i saw the 2008 memberships
collingwood- 42,498
hawthorn- 41,436

42498-41436= 1062 1+0+6+2= 09

lol

COLLINGW09D!!!

last time we won a flag... 90
next year is 09.....
transpose the 0 and 9... you get 90
next year is 90... we win the flag again... simple really...

Yeah I hate to point this out... but if the numbers are reversed, shouldn't the result be also?

2009 - Wooden Spoon...?

But since I can't see that happening, I'll just go with it. 2009 must be the premiership year!

hahaha. its amazing how you even reached at that

this is now 2 pages of irrefutable evidence of why we will be 09 premiers.

i cant see us losing now :)

Last time we won a flag Hawthorn owned us but we could handle anyone else on our day. Seems similar now
lucky we were on the other side of the draw that year, they belted us by 10 goals in a meeting just before finals if i remember right

Collingwood was created in the depression of the earlier 1890's. dominated in the next depression like none before or since. 1990 fell during a recession

so....

It was closer to 15 goals. Hawthorn were the best team from 88-91 and their hiccup in '90 actually helped us win the flag. Although in our defence, we had played Essendon at VFL park in an absolute epic the week before. Essendon kicked the first 6 goals of the game and it looked like another embarrasing defeat in a big game was heading our way. The rest of the game was a monumental struggle in tough conditions. I believe we ended up losing by 6 points.

So when we fronted up the following week against Hawthorn, we were a tired side. Many sides struggled to play VFL Park 2 weeks in a row in those days because the huge playing surface required a lot of extra running.

Through a friend, I got to meet most of the players of that era, usually at the Village Green after the game. A young, smart alec TV sports reporter by the name of Eddie McGuire was usually there as well. Many players thought that the epic Essendon encounter had convinced them(coming from so far behind to almost snatch victory) that they could beat Essendon come finals time. And guess what, they were right!

Since then Collingwoods game plan has gone backwards and doesn't seem to take advantage of the players natural abilities
In my opinion the coach is letting the club down as the game has passed him by and he doesn't have another premiership in him. He got close a couple of times but that was 6 years ago.
****ing spot on. That is exactly right.
