I have mine at 6pm tonight. Has anyone already been through it?

Any tips? I have my own little strategy worked out, but as with the real AFL draft who knows what kind of monkeys will be pulled out of the hat. Interested to know how people went, any issues they encountered etc etc

Tips

  1. Pick two rucks first
  2. Pick the best backline players
  3. Pick the best forward/midfielder around
That is the rough order I would pick my players.
Cox, White, Simmonds, Hill, Sandilands.....
Cornes, Shaw, Burgoyne, King, Bowden.....

Not smart when considering it is a game of league strength as opposed to individual strength. Best to ensure an even spread throughout the league.

You cant really ensure an even spread... it makes no difference if you have all the best players, or if the best players are spread across all teams. its more the second and third teir players that you HAVE to pick. Someone will have cox/judd/ablett etc in every league... it will come down to the lower ranked players people pick

im unsure of how this works as i didnt go in it due to it being $12.

Rucks would be a first priority i would want to pick COX 1st or even J.White or Simmonds.

i would then try to pick up a H.Shaw at number 2 or C.Cornes

its all about which position has the most 2nd tier players eg: midfield then forward line, rucks have the worst so they would be first priority

Your number one pick has to be a ruck, then I would go for either a midfielder or forward who could be a good captain , ie bartel,brown.... Then concentrate on your backs for a couple of picks then go for the best of your fifty that is left.... When your fifty is gone its panic time looking for a good player that is left... When the draft is finished rush to the remaining pool to see if you can grab a bargain...

Your logic makes NO sense what so ever....

Based on your logic, of league strength NOT individual strength..

Think about this

Person A has - Cox, White, Bartel, Ablett
(He gets all the best players)
Person Z has - Simmonds, Kreuzer, Palmer, Ebert
(He gets all the leftover players)

HOW is this different to this scenario, scoring wise?

Person A has - Cox, Kruezer, Palmer, Ablett
Person Z has - White, Simmonds, Ebert, Bartel...

Yes, you guessed it, there is NO difference in the scoring of the LEAGUE!

Not too shabby man. Surprised mclean lasted until your final pick. I was expecting a few more youngsters, given 220 players have to get picked up. Maybe a few absentees

When do you find out the draft order?

Yep, there was 1 or 2 absentees from the start, and a few more dropped out during the draft. A lot of premium mids went early, so by the end I was lucky enough to have free picks of anyone left in the midfield.

There were still a lot of good midfielders remaining and midfielders definitely run deep.

Palmer, Rioli, Masten, Ibbottson all went reasonably early.

You find out the draft order at 6:00 p.m. which doesn't help for planning.

Thanks bro

To be honest i dont really want pick number 1... or 10 for that matter. 20 picks between each selection is a bit rough. Someone around 4-6 would be best.. having said that, roll on pick 1 or 10 lol..

My view is it best to be number 1-5.
Most of the really elite players are in that bracket.
Its far better to have 1,20,21,40 - then 10,11,30,31.
The quality of players after the top 30 goes down significantly and most players are about the same after that.
