correct me if im wrong, but i thought he was put on ice because he sulked after being dropped early in the year, was told to go back to the swans and work harder, he didnt... so he languished for a while and then got injured.

How do you know he sulked?? Im curious it just seems that alot of people tend to make strong and baseless opinions on the charcter of people they dont know.. Anthony is another one, I always read he is a w"nker, but it seems that everyone is just repeating a story they heard on here..

Not having a go personally KPR but just curious where people get these character insights from.. how do you know Walters wasnt injured in some way when he got back to swans, he seemed to be working pretty damned hard early in the year..

im basing that on what barry mitchell said to me "he needs to focus more on his footy and work harder on the track" combine that with reports from other people and there you have it

Mundy & hill had an interrupted pre-seasons so both couldn't be fully fit.
I forget which coach it commented, that once a player loses a period of pre-season training they can't make it up.

Every person involved in AFL will tell you that - it makes a HUGE difference. It depends on the type of player you are, but especially if you play midfield, that ability to hold some sort of skill when fatigued is the thing that gets you ... it simply shows. It has a bit of a snowball effect too, it can impact confidence, which impacts decision making which makes playing that much harder physically which makes you tired and so on.

The really good players can fight through it, but it still impacts them.

As for Son Son (as well as injury issues of course), I think one of his issues is that I'm not sure if he's as natural an athlete as some are (like Hill or Mora for eg.) which means that he has to work that bit harder to get that run and fitness up - at lower levels you can get away with skill and confidence, but at the top level you just have to work and work hard. I don't think I've ever criticised him blindly, but calling a spade a spade is fair enough as long as it has some sort of fair reason and logic behind it, others can disagree of course and that's OK by me. Respectful opinion is all good.

My issue is when there is perception drummed up in the media or on these boards which just sticks and people aren't actually looking at games or players with some objectivity any more - case in point being MJ. No doubt he had some terrible form at the start of the year, but since Harves has moved him fwd, he's actually been OK, sometimes better than OK and sometimes average, but certainly not deplorable - yet plenty around here will call for him to be dropped based on events months ago rather than the reality of the situation at hand.

I guess it can be a fine line between healthy reasoned debate and passionate blowing off steam.

I was watching some UFC last night and heard a quote that immediately reminded me of Son son - Hard work beats talent if talent refuses to work hard.

He's going to realise one day that his opportunity has passed him by if he doesn't lose the apathy of just being a listed player.

great quote.

not referring that quote to any of our players, but as we have been talking about Walters. I would love to see him become an elite AFL player spoken of in the same tones as Cyril Rioli.
come on Clancee, prove me wrong! i'd love to be wrong about you.

options options!!!

Clancee Walters or Michael Pearce ??????

Pitty will never be an A-class player, but he's doing much better than Crowley.

What do you base this statement on? I've seen Pitt play about 3 games of footy & all I see is class & poise wrapped in an immature body and not quite up to the pace of the bigtime yet. What can you possibly have seen that I didn't?
