Gees we need our ruckman to at least break even because any advantage they give them ould see there mids get on top.
Like the look of our whole forward line compared to there backs think we hold the advantage there.
Our speed off the HB line looks good but it just depends how Trengove can go against walker that will make the big difference.
Our mids must break even with thiers.

  • If Port keep two genuine ruckmen (as opposed to using Westhoff as back-up) then there is a structural difference which gives Crows a chance to generate more run
Until later in the match where Port playing two ruckmen should see us finish with getting more clearances late in the game. The way the sides line up this is a really good test for how far Burgess has gotten our fitness across one pre-season (as noted earlier we need more with him to really move up to a finals contender / flag challenger). I think if we can be within 2 goals at 3 quarter time then if we play 2 rucks to 1 and with Mitchell as our sub we'll have the clearances and speed to run over the top in the last. We need to be that close though.

we could be a team of giants this week with all of Trengove, Bobby, O'Shea, P Stewart Schulz, Lobbe, Redden , Westhoff over 190 cms.

Looking at Bob's projected line ups the teams look incredibly closely matched on paper. What a difference an off season can make.

The Crows look so much weaker with Tippett out of the line up. He may have been overpaid but he gave them plenty of flexibility.

Did they all grow from last week?:D

Now he's really overpaid.

Could see Renouf coming in for Redden, depending if they think Renouf's fitness base is still above Redden's after pre-season.
Really worried about Walker getting the early jump on Trengove, Trengove getting frustrated and having brain fades that leads to Tex kicking a bag.
If we can do a decent job nullifying Tex and Jenkins, I think O'Shea, Pittard, Stevenson, and Heath could combine to cause headaches for the Crows' forward line in terms of rebounding.

I'm confident we'll win this game.

I'm confident GC will beat us at Metricon the following week however :(

But on the upside we'll beat West Coast here the following week. so 4-1 would be all good wouldn't it?

Win or Lose it should be a very good game of footy.

My biggest fears are:
-Can the Hoff repeat his performance from the last game? [He has been pretty hot and cold before]
-Are Wingard and Neade going to be able to synch so well again this game.
-Is Schulz going to survive this match? In the pretty big matches he usually seems to get injured
-Hartlett needs to be able to break his tag and influence the game effectively.
I was thinking about how people were disappointed at HH's game. He played with some good attack on the ball and just needs to develop a killer handball game to give Boak some outside run.

Our guys also need to learn to give him a chop out so that he can use his weapon. His kick. Our other mids seem to be able to find their targets so having Hamish tagged is great for Boaky anyway.

Whats your reasoning? I see it being close for the first half. Then our expercience and class should see us through.

IF and a big IF we can match your mids for the whole game and get as many inside 50s i see our forward line being able to get on top of your defence.

But in saying that ive tipped the crows!

Class?

Only Walker and Dangerfield have elite abilities. Thompson is a flakey grunt, Sloane tries hard and Jacobs is quite tall.

If anything you're severely overmatched.

Do I need a reason? I can just have an opinion.

But if you want to know why.

Gut feeling

I believe our players are fresher and fitter than Adelaide's at this point in time, the boys are purely focused on their roles and therefore are playing pure team football. Our key players are at a ripe age and the underdeveloped players are more flankers.

JMac has obviously created a resolve in the playing group.

Losing Tippett and your fitness guy has hurt your team and you had freshness in your play book last year, this year it's not as foreign.

I can continue on to suggest I believe after the emotion of this win the players will be flat for the GC and therefore will struggle with complacency and the humidity will also be a problem for the boys.

I hope that's better for you :)

People complain about it but I used it when I was in New Zealand for the start of the first round and I thought it was great.

Who are your class players? I am not having a go by anymeans. from an outsider your class is Hartlett, Schulz & Ebert. Yes Wingard & Wines are top players but wont be class for a few years to come. Boak is just ya down & dirty mid like thommo.
I might be missign a few players but your top class players still have abit to go, dnt get me wrong they are top players but a year or 2 away from class. & no we dnt have alot of class either so no need to have a crack about that 1, even i kno patty needs to learn a few things like how there is a time to kick the ball & how to break a tag. its goin to be a close 1, adelaide will just get up but only because our experience is only just ahead. Port will start getting a few up on the crows in the near future thou, trust me
