Preview Preview and Changes Vs Adelaide

Heath wasn't, Stevenson wasn't, Pittard hadn't played, Neade wasn't, neither was Monfries. That's nearly a quarter of the team.

Take out Monfries and these guys would be lucky to have played 15 AFL games between them. How can you possibly give them a rating based on that? Good signs but waayyy too early to expect them to just consistently perform week in week out at the level shown in the first 2 weeks. I'm as hopeful of a win as anyone, and believe we are a good chance, but these over optimistic comparisons are folly in my opinion.

That whole "playing Neade is disrespectful" smells like fear to me.

I also think the idea of going on last years performances is insulting to Burgess, Hinkley and Richardson and everything they have achieved so far. Janus' sentiments echo mine, but far more eloquently than I could have said.

This is one of the reasons it's so hard to get a handle on this game, the crows expectations of winning this are based almost entirely on how they went last season while our expectations are all about the improvements we have seen in so many areas this season. Sure they did well last year but have not been really convincing this year, while we were rubbish for so many reasons last year, a lot of which seem to have been/are being addressed this year.

I don't like some of the negativity coming from this thread. We can beat them, sure its not guaranteed but no game is.

Its 50-50 as is every showdown, but I want to see us smash them if they make too many mistakes, and keep it even if they don't. Mistake-free, high pressure football can take you very far in this modern game. Sydney showed that to everyone last year, and I want our team to aim for that kind of play.

I urge all PAFC supporters not to tune into the Power v Crows game that is going to be broadcast on 5AA 1395 on Sunday. The bosses at 5AA in their right minds have put all Crow arse kissers behind their mics on game day with the exception of Josh Francou as Special Comments Man on the boundary.

This is a POWER HOME GAME and the least 5AACROWS could do is have a balance mob behind the mics. Now i know why PAFC supporters don't listen to 5AA Sports... and now hopefully a few more won't listen. Go to MMM or ABC 891 for your footy fix in the Power v Crows game on Sunday. At least their you'll get a balance of both.
Just bumping it up in case others have missed it. Just too add one small point to my post above.

Josh Francou isn't happy with the PAFC because some of his AFL players, namely Power ones who play for North Adelaide have gone to the Magpies. So going on that, it might be all Crow callers on 5AA behind the mics on Sunday... heaven help us if we lose! BUT! if it falls the other way and we win, i can hear the sooks already and what great listening it would be after the game.

Surely we don't need to revisit this topic again?

Depth?

If you were listing the club's midfielders in order, Dangerfield and Thompson would be 1 and 2 and Sloane would probably be top 5. But with Ebert, Boak, Hartlett, Cornes and Broadbent, Port would have 5 out of the top 8 (you could argue Wright over Broadbent, but I'd take the guy who's an excellent kick over the guy who gets a few more touches).
disagree strongly.
Danger, Thompson, Sloane, Wright, Van Berlo, Vince, Douglas

I'd almost have Hartlett as the best on his day, with Boak being very close behind the Adelaide duo. Yes Dangerfield and Thompson are fantastic, but I don't think either of them can match the freak that is Hamish Hartlett, and neither of them deserve to be rated far above Travis Boak, who will probably be the best inside midfielder on the park.

So overall I'd say that Dangerfield and Thompson as a duo are a little better than Boak/Ebert or Boak/Cornes (whoever you rate higher), but they are absolutely even with Boak/Hartlett if Hamish is playing well. With our secondary midfielders of Ebert, Cornes, and Broadbent being superior to whatever Adelaide can throw at us, then I don't think they can beat us in the middle without Jacobs having a blinder. Hopefully our ruckman can at least make it a wash up against him.

Basically we about 7 good players to throw in the centre square with Boak, Hartlett, Broadbent, Cornes, Ebert, Wingard, and Wines. We should win that contest. Around the ground is different, but we will just have to wait and see how that pans out.
Surely you're taking the piss mate?

You've listed three good players, one solid B grader, one inconsistent party boy and two C graders.

Port don't have anybody as good as Danger and Thompson, but we have a 7 or 8 players better than the likes of Van Berlo, Vince (unless this week is one of his two or three good games for the year) and Douglas.
If you've seen any of the Crows this year Douglas has been in very good form and is just as could and probably better then Broadbent.
Sloane at this stage is better then Hartlett.
Vince has been poor this year but can produce a very high standard. Cornes has been poor for a couple years now, Hartlett cannot handle a tag and boak has been average for a couple years too.

I'd love to know why you thought it was a good idea to come on to the opposition's board and do nothing but post about how great all your players other and how crap all of their players are. Clearly you haven't watched a Port game this year, so don't try to comment on them. Go to the Crows board and sprout this crap there, I'm sure they'll all appreciate it. Then you can all make some outdated jokes about bay covers (seriously, can your crappy twitter page come up with any '#banter' other than making the same bay covers joke over and over again? Never mind that we've taken them down this year and we never used them at Showdowns anyway) and laugh the night away.

If I were you I'd pray that Hartlett plays well, so you can witness with your own eyes the absolute freak that he is.

Yes he got tagged out last week, but he is a professional athlete. He will not have it happen again.

I didn't say Sloane will be better then hartlett. Sloanes 2012 > Hartletts 2012 would you disagree?
Just trying to have discussion Schulzenfest Not once did I say any of your players are crap. far from it. Just struggling with the comments the Hartlett is better then Danger.

Ive seen plenty of Hartlett mate and he will be a gun. But to this stage Sloane has had the better career. ATM Hartlett gets tagged out of games too easily and was very inconsistent last year.

It's 2013....JUST SAYING.

The key area I think in this game is in the ruck. We simply cannot let Jacobs do as he pleases like he did last time. Nullifying his influence will go a long way to rectifying our clearance numbers from last week.

Think it will be a close battle at other parts of the ground. Particularly interested to see how Heath, Stevenson and Pittard handle some increased pressure.

I hate the build up to Showdowns and the boring arguments that come with it. I just want to see a game of football and see where we're at.

Ok, back to your love-in on the Crows board now.

I mean watching him live my friend. It is something to behold.

I'd like to see Dangerfield play though, I haven't seen much of the guy but he does seem very good. I just don't think anyone will be as good as Hartlett if he can ever get his shit together and start averaging 26/27+ possessions per game.

SO you haven't seen Danger?

i dont rate sloan at all. i was at the brizzy game on the weekend and he did nothing to change my mind there either. he might be a good player, but so far the only people i see raving about him are crows supporters.

If you're looking at stats, sure. If you're looking at talent and the ability to take games by the scruff of the neck, no. Sloane is a good workhorse with above average skills. Hartlett is a freak who wins games off of his own boot when he feels like it.
Ok what games did Hartlett do that last year except against Carlton?
