Ok what games did Hartlett do that last year except against Carlton?

St. Kilda game. Carlton game. We were so far ahead of Melbourne that you can't really say he 'won the game off of his own boot', but it doesn't get much better than 29 touches at 80% efficiency and 2 55+ metre goals unless your name is Gary Ablett.

Ok if we count the Melbourne game this year thats 3 games out of 18.
Sloane was fantastic in many games last year and was arguably our best on the weekend. I'd say he has been more consistent and better performed to this stage of his career then Hartlett. When Hartlett learns to handle a tag however he will be elite IMO.

If I were you I'd pray that Hartlett plays well, so you can witness with your own eyes the absolute freak that he is.

Yes he got tagged out last week, but he is a professional athlete. He will not have it happen again.

EDIT: @BUTTON_92
Big call that one.

Take out Monfries and these guys would be lucky to have played 15 AFL games between them. How can you possibly give them a rating based on that? Good signs but waayyy too early to expect them to just consistently perform week in week out at the level shown in the first 2 weeks. I'm as hopeful of a win as anyone, and believe we are a good chance, but these over optimistic comparisons are folly in my opinion.

Lo in AFl but some of these recruits have experience in the lower league. I'm basing it on 2013 pre season and season form. I'm with alot of people here, I respect the crows 2012 and there team, but I believe our team is showing enough to make us feel we can win.

Just bumping it up in case others have missed it. Just too add one small point to my post above.

Josh Francou isn't happy with the PAFC because some of his AFL players, namely Power ones who play for North Adelaide have gone to the Magpies. So going on that, it might be all Crow callers on 5AA behind the mics on Sunday... heaven help us if we lose! BUT! if it falls the other way and we win, i can hear the sooks already and what great listening it would be after the game.

Pete is MMM much better? The have professional Port hater in Dale Lewis, soft c!@# Ditmar too afraid to support his club and Tredrea special comments? Actually I'll go as far as to say whilst Dale Lewis is on MMM I won't listen to anything on that station that involves that egotistical manic who thinks bagging out on people is humour!

What about ABC they are usually unbiased and neutral.

Big call that one.

Especially seeing as the Crows definition of 'tag' in a Showdown tends to be 'outnumber him and start hitting him in the guts behind the play (and under no circumstances should you do this if the opposition player is not outnumbered)'.

I would agree that Sloane was 'better' than Hartlett last year. The difference is Hammer was getting a hard tag regularly, whereas Sloane got to live it up as Thompson and Dangerfield got the tag. So not only did he have no tag, he got more possessions in a stronger midfield. I'd take Hammer over Sloane any day.

Boak averaged the third most inside 50s in the comp last year, playing half the season with plantar fasciitis. Sure, his stats read worse than Dangerfield or Thompson, but he was copping the main tag every week and pulling along a struggling side. The Crows mids all had their games where they dominated, but they also had games where the stats flatter them simply by being in a such a strong side.

this isnt a crows hate thing, i dont hate the crows. i dont give a toss about them. I think Dangerfield and Thompson are fantastic players, among others including walker and jacobs etc. but i simply dont see what the fuss is about sloan. yeah he is a good servicable player, same as i think broadbent is.

but then again, i dont watch too many crows games either. so maybe he is better than the times ive seen him. this weekend he is bound to have a 40+ possie ablett type game now just to really piss me off :)

A few questions and comments.

1) Whats with the whole Neade disrespect thing? I don't really want to go on their board to find out.

2) Can the mods please remove this BUTTON 92 flog

3) Who gives a shit about 5aa or MMM, seriously guys it aint gonna change. Just don't listen to any of it.

A bit of the old Port arrogance coming back in this thread. Good to see. It will make Sunday's victory all the sweeter. Hartlett better than Sloane. OMG I think I just spat out my lunch. Scully took him to the cleaners on Saturday night and Scully is average at best. Wingard and Neade on the other hand will be very hard to us to stop. Put Neade down for four goals now.

If you are going to troll or look stupid, or both, get your facts correct - Scully didn't play on Hartlett - he was tagged by Palmer.

Ummm Palmer tagged Hamish most of the night I believe. :)

You guys don't have any fast small defenders Jars?

Well don't eat your lunch while reading our board. Go circle jerk over on yours with alex_is_on_downs98, fryingpansie and Springchoke or whatever he changed his name to after it backfired.

Not really. Brown is pretty good but more likely to get a Monfries type. The really quick players can hurt us. Saints in the pre-season and Carlton did just that. Essendon also hurt us badly in that area. For this reason I would leave Butcher Cassisi and Gray in the SANFL for at least another week.

As a few people have pointed out, it was Palmer, not Scully. And you don't need to be a brilliant player to be an effective tagger. All you need to do it follow them around, harass and bump, and block their run of the ball. Palmer only had 10 disposals, while a great player like Cornes can negate his man while also racking up 25-30 possessions the other way.
Compare Sloane and Hammer last year: http://www.footywire.com/afl/footy/...50&type=A&fid1=P&fopt1=2012&fid2=P&fopt2=2011
The stats are almost identical, but Hartlett was doing it copping a tag most weeks (Sloane wasn't) in a team that was struggling and therefore not getting easy possessions that Sloane would have had.
I think Sloane is a good player, and fun to watch, but any footy expert will tell you that Hammer is better than Sloane.

Why are Crows supporters under the impression that our 'preview and changes vs adelaide' thread is Bay 13? They have a thread that's actually called 'Showdown banter' on their thread and Port supporters haven't been anywhere near this bad.

Maybe I should go over there and talk about how Dangerfield can't handle a tag because Heath Hocking shut him down in Round 1? But I'm sure I'd be red carded within half an hour if I dared to question the exalted one.
