Collingwood looking for a midfielder?? They will need one with there best one IMO having a delayed start to the season next year.

Personally I would love him at the pies. I think if we cannot trade for a ruck with our first pick(which we probably will) we should go after prismall. We need another young quality inside mid and I think he fits the bill perfectly. If we trade for a ruckman I cant see it happening.

He asked what will he be worth. I said what I think. As a required player, we should be looking for quality compensation.

sorry norm I had the impression you may have been suggesting that the cats hold all the cards in this one. I agree you should get fair comp. As an outsider looking at this one I would say swallow would be fair but jess smith would be paying over the odds. He will be in norths best 3 players over the next 5-10 years imo. Having said that I reckon swallow would be in the same situation as prismall is in now and may struggle to break into the side unless injuries occur. If your going to trade for a player I reckon it should be a developing kpp. Your best bet would be a draft pick though as it would help ease sal cap pressures for 2 or 3 years.

I named Smith as we will be in the hunt for a tall defender during this off season. Noone else at the Roos took my fancy.

Swallow will be the next Simpson... Hard in and under type player at the roos and seeing as he played all games this year who is going to take his spot in the line-up??

IMO , the players mentioned from Melbourne or North hold no interest for me. Sure Prismall was not playing much this year but neither was Hawkins or Varcoe etc.
I see Prismall in our side next year , so for us to trade him for players that wouldn't make our best 25 would be silly.

To me if Melbourne or North really want the Pris , then I would want to group him with another player like David Johnson/Tenace/Callan/Playfair/Gardiner etc. and get player capable of playing in our side

For eg.
Matthew Bate for Prismall & Tenace
Not sure who that would be at North

Thats it. Our main aim will be to free up room on our list. I'd rather see some of our rookie listed players get promoted to the senior squad, rather than pick up some bloke from another team who may or may not be any good. We need to go about getting the best three picks we can. I'd love to see us get a few gun players out of the draft. There is no reason why we can't.

Upgrading pick/s in the end might be the only way to create the necessary room on the list this year... 2 players for 1 pick basically which also allows us to get the sort of quality out of this draft we need and keep our list momentum going. I'll be disappointed if we let a guy like Grima go too and pick some 18yo kid 3 years off it because bringing 3 guys off the rookie list was just seen as too much in one go. Lonergan and Davenport look likely at this stage so I hope they dont let Grima go as a result. A bit small for the AFL currently but in a forward line with Hawkins, Mooney, Nathan hardly a concern.

Can someone clarify Prismall's contract status. Reading the Herald Sun this morning he wasn't listed as out of contract, although most people here are claiming he is and that is why Geelong will be forced to trade him.

His got 1 year to go. But reportedly wants out.

Yet he said this at the GF Parade in the lead-up to the Grand Final.

Brent Prismall said:
It's a pretty relaxing day for me, because I'm not playing tomorrow, so it's good to soak it in and it's all a good experience.

I would have loved to be playing tomorrow but I'm realistic and obviously you don't change winning teams, which is fair enough. Everyone has to have their time out of the team, and it's my time now.

Hopefully next year I get the opportunity, and that's what driving me.
Seems pretty clear that he isn't going anywhere!

Re: Prismall

OK , with 1 year left on the contract , I'd doubt he will be going anywhere unless , its an overwhelmingly favorable deal. The disappointments of not being selected can be forgotten when he gets a regular game next year.

But is he going to get a regular game next year though?
He's good enough to play senior footy but who does he push out of the side to do so, it won't be Byrnes because when Egan returns Byrnes will most likely be out anyway, and I can't see Prismall getting a game ahead of any of our other midfielders, so I can see where he may think his chances are better elsewhere.

hahahaha your kidding yourself if you think melbourne would give up matthew bate for a solid at best midfielder and a player who has shown nothing and wouldnt even be in melbournes best 30

Would you guys class Prismall as an inside or outside midfielder?

Well and truly inside... He would play in almost every other team in the AFL. Many clubs need more ball winners and less receivers, Collingwood come to mind.
Geelong will not be able to give him a game... we are blessed with ball winners, especially with Selwood coming on board.

agreed.

Except for the fact the he is uncontracted. If he wants to go another club he will

He is still contracted for 1 more year so he won't be going anywhere :p

He didn't get much of a run this year because he was injured earlier in the year. Then he rebroke his arm in the middle of the year & he was out for more weeks.
