Hey Catters!

How good is this guy?. He obviously cant take selly's spot like he has tonight but surely he is far more valuable and cool under pressure than some other players *cough**burns*. I watched the grand final today (for the 4001st time, and we won again!) and to say he was ordinary is being kind.

IF Priz keeps playing in the two's surely he will look at other clubs to get his chance (nice conclusion captain obvious). I just don't think we can afford to lose this guy.

In my opinion he should be in for the rest of the year, if he stands up its all good , if he falls then its something we need to know for the future but i cant see that happening he looks so comfortable out there and hes only going to get better the more he plays in the 1's.

Sorry if its been done on here , i havent seen it . Cheers to you cats boys and hope we run over the top of the kangas (its halftime) cos i have a lot of $$$ riding on it at the line hahaha

GO CATS!!!!!!!!!!!

That was nice work by burns in the last minute to kill johno's goal. Its hard to work out who hes playing for sometimes but that confirms that i cant stand the guy (yes hes a premiership player blah blah) but hes **** on a bull and ive had enough of him.

Cats didnt cover the line and i did my arse......$200 ....SHIT... But the doggies at points are a sure thing tomorrow I HOPE.

Prismall did ok. Some of his lace out passes were awesome, that is the difference between his play and some others.

I didn't mind his effort tonight.

Did you lose the 200 due to the Brynes indiscretion on the line? Would have been goal of the week by SJ.

can't question the endeavour of the bloke, but he just seems to find a way to attract negative attention to himself. I still think with selwood coming in and dropping byrnes we will find ourselves with 1 too many midfielders.

Did nothing in my eyes to alter the perception that he's a very handy, albeit extremely overrated good ordinary player. Would not be opposed to packaging him and our #1 pick for a top5 pick or a good player, a la Moloney/Ottens. Theres still Cat people who want moloney back (!), we'd miss Prismall about as much.

To be honest I thought he was just alright tonight. Fantastic disposal at times and definitely an AFL level player but I think he should be dropped.

Watching that game we were a tall backmen short and it was killing us. Taylor to replace Scarlett and still we need another KP backmen. Perhaps Lonergan or West but that is scraping the bottom of the barrel for us.

I think
out: Scarlett, Byrnes, Prismall
in: Taylor, West, Selwood

If Port play Brogan, Westoff, Tredrea & Motlop we will struggle to match them overhead. I think we should matchup
West on Brogan/Westoff
Taylor on Tredrea
Harley on Motlop

I like Prismall a lot but I think we would be better served without him for the time being.

I agree. In hindsight it was a bit of a mistake to drop taylor. Not just because of the Scarletts injury, but it just felt as if we had gone a bit too midfield/half-forward heavy, and just missed that one tall defender back there who could have restricted some of the plays, especially on Hale. Milburn is a fantastic player, but one on one isn't his strength, and Harley doesn't really seem to be in all that great a form at the moment.

Truly, we need Egan back :P

I love Prismall... rather him then Byrnes... & what the F**K was Byrnes thinking when he touched that Johnno goal in the last... that was plain stupid & selfish

I can't see Prismall playing in the same side as Selwood, barring injury of course.

Why not run Pris on the HFF, put either Chapman or Kelly to the wing? IMO his disposal rate last night was quite good, better than some.

Mackie, Stokes and Kelly's disposal's at times were extremely ordinary. So should we be looking at one of these guys for a break?

Why should we drop a guy that had about 80-odd percent efficiency rating with no clangers? Surely you'd look at others that are low on form? Or is this the way the club rewards good play?

A few have come out and said Prismall is a reserves only player, last night he proved otherwise. 21 Disposals at over 85% effectiveness is great, anyone who thinks otherwise needs to go and have another look at the replay.

Heres efficiency stats from last night:
Kelly 65% 20 Disposals
Bartel 52% 23 Disposals
Rooke 66% 18 Disposals
Mackie 66% 15 Disposals
Brynes 42% 14 Disposals.

There was some shocking use of the footy last night, surely you'd keep the guys who performed over those who didn't. Pris should be kept in the side IMO.

Also, Harley didn't do all that much, but was rated easily the best in 1% efforts. This stat isn't read much, or shown by media outlets. He had 7, nearest was 4 (Enright and Kel).

Don't necessarily disagree with this and its a fair enough point to make. However, I think Primall nonetheless has the potential to become a valuable member of our midfield going forward (he is still young) and we do have a policy of developing our own (and there is certainly no reason to start doubting this).
Prismall showed plenty tonight without really dominating. A few weeks in the team should really see him hitting his straps.

Pris was very solid.

His skills, decision making and cool head are outstanding, and if you combine his strengths with those of Selwood, we've got a very good young midfield duo that will hopefully get a chance to work together in the coming weeks.

Yes!

Still think Byrnes brings something to the team though, despite his obvious shortcomings. His nip, unpredictability, workrate and willingness to take on opponents was actually missed by the team earlier this year and he is an important part of the unit in terms of team balance.

Also agree that Taylor was sadly missed last night and has to play every week now. Next week without Scarlett is going to be a real test. We just don't have the same key position backup in our reserves that we had last year. Gardiner, Playfair et al may have been much maligned on this board but they were competent back-up players for situations such as this and that was a real strength of the 2007 list. Hawkins to come back and Lonergan to CHB?

Yeah i agree, his comedy routine was a classic last night when he ____ed up Stevie J's goal

Every team needs a comedian

Fantastic effort by Prissa last night. Didn't he just slot into the team so nicely and add a touch of class. He definitely doesn't deserve to be dropped after that performance but I'm thinking Selwood will be back in next week and I can't imagine they will want another medium sized midfielder as they always seem to opt for the small fast midfielders. I'm so happy that he got another game in the seniors, Hopefully there will be plenty more to come with the cats! Well done Pris! :thumbsu:

In fairness to Byrnes, the SJ “goal” from where I was sitting didn’t look like it was going through and Byrnes did what he thought was the right thing to do – stop it and make sure it went through; he must think he is taller than he actually is.

Had he let it go and it went through for a behind, everyone would be saying how he should have grabbed it and kicked the goal himself.

It was a mistake, but shit happens.

prismall had a top game, loved some of his lace out passes. he's a gem! got a top footy brain and always seems to have a fair bit of time when he gets the ball...

lol when byrnes rushed stevie j's attempt at a goal, i think dennis cometti summed it up best..."NFI"! no flipping idea! lol, this from a commentator on free-to-air, awesome!

Well done Prismall on a great game and welcome back to the Seniors where I think you belong.
As often said in the media, you would walk into any other AFL team starting line up but friday you walked into the Cat's team and now have come back into the team and position where you belong. Not only would you walk into any AFL team but you BELONG in the cats starting line up.
WELCOME BACK PRISMALL and hope to see 32 on the starting line up against Power next week

They said the same about Stokes, Byrnes and Varcoe, and now they're all playing together.

I thought Pris was good the other night. A couple of those passes inside 50 were brilliant - just what you'd expect from him.
