Does anybody play this game? I play the 2008 version and in my current career i'm with Cervelo and half way through the Giro i'm top of the continental table. Some weird things have happened such as Joly from FDJ won Paris-Nice and two other FDJ riders (Casar and some Finnish rider) finished second and third in Tirrino-Adriatico.

It's a pretty good game but it has no tutorial mode so you really need to know your cycling to get into it. Unfortunately I don't know it, I have no clue about the tactics and always stuff up.

Played 07 and 08. It can be a really indepth game. I liked it a lot and blew away many hours, but I think the game could move along a bit quicker. I might get 09 soon.
From memory there's a pdf manual you can get your head around.

Yeah, I think I might get 09 soon, I'm sick of playing 08, with patches that rate everybody so highly. The Custom team option seems quite good though.

Yeah I think there was a tutorial but it wasn't extensive enough. It told you how to do staff like relays and how to ride aggressively, but no basics like when you should do that, why you should relay, what is a relay etc.

I got it from JB but it took a while for them to get it in. The 2009 game has just come out and according to the JB website their getting it in. You can also download it from http://www.cycling-manager.com/pcm/.

im not a huge cycling fan but that game was really good fun...

JB HI-FI have ordered the 09 game. (it could actuclly be in by now i'm not sure) They also might have the 08 game still. You can also buy a downloadable version, the link to the official website is posted a couple of post above. Hope this helps

I've played 07 but do 08/09 have a sim mode where you can give your riders their tactics and just sit back and watch? I know in 07 you can do that but when you click sim you just get the results - and where's the fun in that?

Found '07 on my laptop today and was googling for hints and tips when I found this thread - would love to get into the game but I'm either not up with cycling or I'm far too impatient

can someone who knows a bit more about computers help me out with this one.

I've got this game obviously, 08 version. The game basically speaking won't run. I can install the game, get into it, choose what race i want to do, select everything, then when it comes time to race the riders appear and no-one moves and all i can hear is the helicopter noise. I'm almost sure the graphics are the problem and my computer can't read it well, or something like that because it spends it's time loading. Occasionally i get a message that comes up that reads "window virtual minimum memory is too low". Is there any way of fixing this? it's beyond me and my computer knowledge.

Hey ubolt. I think in 07 or 08 there was a memory leak problem that got fixed with a patch.

I've had a look around to try and find out info about this game to no avail as well.

Graphics cards are the things that generally cause problems with games.

For instance I can run football manager 2009 fine in 2d mode but don't have a good enough card to run it in 3d. I presume if I can't run that I wouldn't be able to run this, otherwise I would be all over it.

It's not worth me upgrading because I play very few games.

Looks to me like protecting your best riders with the slops is (surprise) the way to go. Not quite up on where to attack or anything yet.

Is it a legit tactic to use one rider to go for the intermediate sprints then finish a mile last? I've been having one guy fly at the sprint/KOM points then drop off the pack at the end - no good for his overall classification but great for points.

I always protect my riders. If it is flat, get one infront of your sprinter. On the mountains, I get my best climber to just sit there.

With the attacks, I always react to the main guys attacking. Whenever I go myself, they blow right by me and I can only sometimes get on their wheel.

Been playing the series since '07. I never initiate the attacks anywhere, just a waste of energy.

Just a hint, if you have the yellow jersey don't forget to set the pace of the peleton with your own guys to chase down the breakaway oops

'09 version I am struggling, the peleton always chases down the breakaway if I have a guy in it but never if i don't and its too tough to get my sprinter near the front of the field. I wish they had a 'go to the front' button, its really annoying when you are set at near max pace and dozens of riders are streaming passed your guy, ffs!

I picked it up from JB and it works on my shitty generic intel card.

The effort bar thing doesn't seem to have very much impact on the game. If you want your guys at the front what I do is send them to do a short relay and once they get towards the front hit the hold position button while gradually increasing the effort towards the end of the stage.

If you attack, the guys after the interim sprint/kom points always chase you down but they never do it to the ai riders which sucks. If you wait until later to attack you are better off, I nearly pulled off a stage win with Menchov in the tour down under. The peloton caught the breakaway at 20km so I immediately sent Menchov off the front, no one responded and he built up 1:30 before getting run down in the last km. Won the stage with Freire though so i suppose the move worked.

The sprinting sucks though. First up I tried setting up a train. I had Postuma driving the peloton with Graeme Brown on his wheel and Freire on Brown's. Brown lost the wheel of Posthuma and Freire just sat behind Brown as he drifted back through the field. Epic fail I noticed in that stage though that the winner, Hushovd, went off the front himself with a km to go so tried the same thing with Freire on the next stage and he won easy.

I'm struggling with it. Went with Barloworld, starting to get better at it, even finished third in a sprint for once.
