For those who have played both FIFA 09 and PES 2009 (on PS3, specifically)...which game is better this year, and why?

I rented PES 2009 on Saturday...I played it a fair bit, and thought it was pretty good. I've always been a PES loyalist... but some of the user reviews online (mainly from PESFan), are extremely damning, and they're jumping over to FIFA in droves. I haven't played this year's FIFA, and I only plan to buy one or the other... so does anyone have any opinions on which is better yet?

Picked up PES2009 yesterday.

Gameplay is rubbish compared to PES3 (which is still the flagship of the series for OMFGRLY! in that regard). Feels pinbally and generic like say, FIFA2000.

The Become a Legend mode, while brimming with potential, is excruciating given you're controlling an absolute spud and have to watch a lot of matches while you're sitting on the bench waiting for the call. I don't know whether my attention span will survive the 2-3 seasons it will take for my player's attributes to get up to something approaching a very good player, let alone a superstar.

With this in mind, the forgiveness tradeoff re lack of licences isn't what it used to be. I seriously couldn't be arsed spending half an hour plus changing the names this time and doubt whether I'll get around to it beyond Tyneside to Newcastle.

Just went in for a bit of a look around, can't be bothered playing the game much.

I started off as Stoke, and in my first week Man City spent $21.5 mill on Yuri Zhirkov and $43 mill on Marek Hamsik.

Opps this was meant to be in the FM 09 thread.

What platform you on? regardless get a Option file, it will fix kits, bades, names, and some more things. Even though i love PES if online is still bad bu the time November 5 comes (thats when patch is releaed) them my copy is going on ebay, and atm im enjoying FIFA09 alot, ill admit the gameplay in FIFA is still not as good as PES though its getting close, (baby steps) and atleast the gameplay is enjoyable & playable now

The hardcore PES forums critisise it a lot because they want more than just slight updates.

Other people enjoy it with more of a "don't fix what isn't broken" attitude but I do agree that some new features are needed.

Become a Legend is a great start and I'm officially hooked. Recently just passed the first negotiation period and I turned down all other offers because none were amazing. I've finally made the first team and have had a few full games with 4 man of the match awards, 2-3 assists but still no goals :( (in real games or training).

I'm an attacking midfielder but our team never uses one, they always use a striker and 2 wing forwards so I get used as a centre midfielder. Improving stats does take ages. I kind of wish I could have chosen them at the start (from a limited selection of course) but in another way I'm happy with it being random (yet apparently different based on your position of choice)

I can dribble quite well, even with average stats, but shooting and passing aren't amazing.

It can be a frustrating game because it feels much more realistic. No longer can you just be Eto'o and blitz an entire side in one half of football. He could sprint from one side of the ground to the other without being touched and generally score once he got within range.

A part of me misses the unrealistic gameplay of PES8 but I'm welcoming the challenge of the tougher PES9 version.

Good to see you are getting first team football now, it does become an amazing game once you get through the training games. It took me ages to get my first goal, I didn't get any in training and made quite a few sub appearances before I finally got a goal, it's brilliant when the ball hits the back of the net.

I'm getting towards the end of my first season at Sunderland. I also turned down the offers I received in January, they were only from teams like Bolton and Stoke though. We are struggling in the league but won't get relegated, but amazingly we are in the Semis of the Cup. First leg was away to Arsenal and we won 0-2.

Very good chance to make a Final in my debut season.

I love the challenge of this game, much more realistic than the 08 version.

I just won my first tournament after numerous attempts, defeated Real Madrid 2 - 1 with Arsenal in the final of a club competition. Rosicky was basically injured all tournament and hadn't kicked a goal, then netted two absolute gems in the last two games of the championship.

EPIC:thumbsu:

360. Where/how do I go about getting a good post-edit Option file?
