Obviously 11th is better than 9th. There are no benefits to 9th but you don't tank. We'd have to play the VFL squad to lose to St Kilda. You can only be as bad as you are. Though I think Brad has chosen to paper over cracks this year by playing essentially the 22 oldest week in and out.

I can. I was pretty sure we were going to lose today going in. The good news is that because this team hates expectation that much we just doubled our chances of winning next weekend from 7% to 14%.

Crap showings like today don't suddenly become better because we do it more often, or because younger players make the mistakes instead of older ones, or because we get a marginally larger pool of available players from which to fill list vacancies at season's end. We're all sick of it, but the problem with mid-table mediocrity is the losing part, not the winning: what kind of ridiculous impulse sees the performance we put in today and asks for more of the same, or worse?
