I stole this from the AFL.com.au, who stole it from the West Australian.

* The West Australian reports that the West Coast Eagles want to move their round 22 match against the Kangaroos from Canberra.

The Eagles are concerned that if they qualify to contest the finals, starting the following week, they will be disadvantaged by being forced to catch four planes during a three-day journey. The club has written to the league and met with senior AFL officials over the issue.

Proof that the Eagles are thinking that they are a chance .. which they most definitely are.

I always knew that Woosha and the players were kidding themselves when they say, "one week at a time", it's always in the back of their mind.

This is good...they deserve to be thinking about it because theyve done well up till now. Its been awhile since the boys have had to think about finals!

Er, no.

The Eagles management / hierarchy / administration, led by one T. Nesbitt are OF COURSE thinking ahead and planning for every eventuality. I'm sure they will have planned the catering at Subi more than one week in advance, for example.

Woosha and the players take it one week at a time in a football sense, so that they respect each opponent and concentrate on the job at hand.

There's a difference.

Yep, VOR is right on the money on this one. Read the full article and you will see Nisbett revealed the first WCE requests to change that game venue came before the season even began. Nisbett also said they would try again once the situation became clearer in terms of ladder position closer to the date.

If this season continues they way it has so far, then it is going to be the case that up to 12 teams may still be in the mix for the final 8 right over the last few games, including both the Roos and Eagles.

In that likely scenario, the AFL can quite rightly say that it's a purely theoretical argument as the eagles position in the final 8 may not be a certainty until that last round of games.

Even if the eagles did cement a place in the 8 well ahead of that date, they would have to do it by round 18 in order to give 4 weeks notice of a change in venue, and that means winning the next 6 matches to give a 13 wins, 5 losses ratio by that time - personally I would enjoy that.

However, it still would not happen as the Roos are happy with the fixture, and the contractural arrangements between AFL, Roos, Canberra, and commercial television in relation to that game are fixed.
Conclusion: eagles will be playing the roos in canberra in round 22.

With the compettiton so tight this year, we can not take any opponent for granted; (ie: St. Kilda), plus there could be a chance we may also lose on our home ground.

The Eagles are doing well this season and there is a chance they could play finals, but we can't have the players taking their minds of the job. If they do that, there is a good chance, they could lose 3 in a row or something and then we will be in a little trouble......

It ****s me though that for the last two years running the Roos have managed to switch there round 22 game to a different venue yet when the Eagles want to do it, they say there is no chance??

****es me off!
