Reid for me is a difficult choice. I actually wouldn't mind a fit Reid playing as a 3rd tall/loose defender in a Maxwell style role. He is a very good intercept mark, reads the play well and is a long reasonably accurate kick. Although his effectiveness at CHB in 2010/11 may have been at least in part due to our use of the press, with him mopping a lot of opposition kicks under pressure.

He could still be sent forward if the circumstances required.

Reid could effectively play a Harry Taylor type role

I like Reid back rather than forward, now that we've finally started doing a team defence again. His kicking and intercept marking is very important in setting up play and preventing scoring. Then again I just want him to get back on the park lol

Why?

He was also a premiership CHB

Don't see AA in Keeffe, play to your strengths IMO

Reid was a top 10 draft pick so you'd like to think he'd come on quicker than Keeffe who was plucked from a soccer pitch. Particularly with the improved drafting over the last 10 years or so.

A player like Presti is a better comparison to Keeffe and Frost even though he was a top 10 pick in 95. It wasn't until his 5th season and he'd surpassed the 50 game mark that he emerged as a full back and a regular senior player. That is the normal progression for big guys, 5-6 seasons and 50+ games. Neither Keeffe nor Frost have hit 50 games yet I'd say both have surpassed Presti's performances at the same time in his carreer.

In 2013 Reid played about 8-10 games forward and kicked 25 goals including 2x bags of 4 and 1 of 5. Cloke and Elliott aside, whick other potential forwards on our list look like doing that in 2015?

i dont see why there so much hate towards Keeffe and Frost. i believe they both did pretty well this year. yes they made mistakes but that happens when your in your second/third season. it not often you get 204cm defender who came from a soccer field. and frost he held some of the best forwards to no or one goal this season. i'm excited for them two to see what there doing next season.

Absolutely Reid can play forward no doubt he is a class act and is our best current second option up forward. I see the merit to Reid playing forward and just for the record I do see the potential in Keeffe and hopefully being thrown in at the deep end last year has huge advantages for both he an Frost in 2015+.

I like the stability and composure Reid brings in what I believe is a key position (CHB) in setting up the movement forward, stopping opposition forward momentum, intercepting and rebounding football. Cloke is the best contested grab in the league and with better delivery into the forward line should be on the end of a lot more more uncontested possessions close to goal.

I like Reid being used as a swingman to change up a game and to give Buckley options during to catch the opposition off guard. Keeffe and Frost can backfill and Goldy can go back also.

Hopefully we can get more out of White, if not he needs to go, Gault or even Moore (in time). Grundy and Witts will fill key roles forward and will keep improving. Have not seen enough of Karnezis but a possible option.

Nothing but admiration and praise for both Keeffe and Frost for stepping up last year and looking forward to both of them stepping up again in 2015. No hate at all for these guys or anyone that puts the B&W on each week.

IMO what Reid does in the forward line (also what he was recruited for) Is does allot more for our team then the composure he brings to the back half.

I agree. Maybe base the positions Reid plays on the oppositions set up. If the opposition lacks big forwards or has an excess of key position defenders we can shoot him forward, and vice versa. I'd say he's an experienced enough player to be able to adjust to swinging positions from game to game.

It's a good debate and nice to have the built in flexibility during a game, I'm a big fan whereever he plays and fingers crossed a complete season ahead.
