I haven't posted much this year, and in fact have focused a lot less on footy than previous years. (Probably a response to the loss last year).

This was obviously a rough loss - we were favourites and were a bit healthier than last year (though obviously with a lot of outs still). It would've been incredible to go up against Richmond next week - but on our overall performances this year, we (like pretty much every team) had a deficiences throughout the year and werent clearly top 2. But when things started to get tough we did bounce back throughout the year, and we did enough to sneak into the top 4, and then won the QF to make the prelim.

I think today we just struggled to adjust to the conditions as quickly as GWS did, and let the lead get too far out of hand in that 3rd quarter. But the response was absolutely incredible.

Most of our players had their numbers clearly lowered in the first 3 quarters (Moore, Crisp and Grundy were the only ones that really stood up) but pretty much everyone turned it to "11" in that final term and gave their absolute all for the club and the jumper.

So much love for the boys, and Bucks, and lets push on in 2020.

Always proud of the club, but they s**t the bed in that 3rd quarter today and has cost us a shot at premiership.

But thats football - especially when the conditions were so shit for much of the day. They played the conditions much better than us, they got on quicker when it started to clear, and pretty much every single 50/50 contest went their way in the 3rd. Shit Happens- how you respond is key, and I can't be any prouder for how we responded.

Sorry but there's no pride at the moment, just an overwhelming sense of disappointment and lost opportunity.

We dropped the bundle on this one in a manner similar to how we've played for most of the year - mailing it in for the first three quarters.

Quite a few of our boys need to take a good hard look at themselves because they just didn't bring the hunger and focus you need to win a final today and indeed this has been a pattern across much of the year for a lot of our boys.

Our backline, however, deserves an overwhelming pat on the back for holding up under that ridiculous I50 count the Giants had going.

In summary our best was as good as anyone's this year despite our injuries, we just didn't perform at or even close to that level from week to week across most of the year.

There's times where I'm proud of the team but this game wasn't one of them.

Playing them at the MCG with all the players they have out and we had most of the crowd on our side. It took until the last quarter for us to turn up. Get off to a flying start and they wouldn't have caught up would've ran out of gas. It's disappointing but that's Collingwood and they seem to disappoint a lot.

I was not proud of the way we played today. Not at all. The comeback in the last papered over a lot of cracks and a fair number of the player group were very ordinary to say the least.
I am proud of the club, the coaches and the playing group for putting together an excellent year and making it to the prelim. We had more than our share of adversity this year and we dealt with it really well.
Compared to last year though we just seemed to lack the same spark in the way we played.

I come in peace. You were pretty ordinary for the last half of the year. Got a dream run into the finals playing GC , Melbourne, Essendon which made your winning form look better than it was and then the eagles shitting the bed got you top 4 and a home final against Geelong. Today wasn’t unexpected. Better luck next year

Yeah, this :thumbsu:

We had our run of good luck. Today we failed to make the most of it.

We could have won today ...

... if Mayne had kicked a little higher, if Reid had kicked straight, if Pendlebury’s goal hadn’t been touched, if Adams hadn’t hit the post ...

... but if any one of those things had happened it wouldn’t have changed the fact that GWS played much better than us and deserves to be in the GF.
