Hmmm apologise in advance for the strange idea for a thread. But recently some friends have had some readings done with interesting results.. almost unexplainable to some degree.

Does anyone have any experiences?

I would consider getting a reading done, but there must be so much crap out there who just want your money!

I once went to a 20 quid psychic in Blackpool. She said she could see me travelling over vast seas in the next couple of years. What are the chances of that for an Australian living in the UK. Guess what, she was right. I returned home 12 months later - hauntingly accurate.:eek:
 
I am of the theory that they only give broad information and if you really believe in what they have told you that it will effect your decision making.

As in, if they tell you that they can see you with another partner. If you really believe that they have forseen the future you will believe that the person you are with isnt right for you and you will begin to subconsciously move away emotionally from that person. Or if they say you will have a new job you will start looking for a new job because you are told that this is going to happen and then when you find a new job you will then think that the psychic has been validated except that you only found the new job because the psychic told you that you would find a new job.

There was a woman at work that went to a psychic and was told that she would meet someone else and within 12 months she left her previously happy marriage and filed for divorce. Its all about what you want to believe and often people will subconsciously be influenced by what they were told.

It's called the power of suggestion. Alternatively, a "self-fulfilling prophecy".
 
I've seen Tarot readers and Psychics previously and have found the experiences differ greatly depending on who you are seeing and what you have asked them to focus on. On one occasion when making a booking with psychic who actually happens to be based in Adelaide (i live in Melbourne), she told me that whatever it was i was looking for at the time was under some towels. At the time I had lost my shed key and had been looking for days. She was correct, I found the key in my linen cupboard under some towels i stacked. That piece of insight was given to me before the women knew my name, where i was calling from, what i was caling for or my age etc. That was quite errie. When i met her, she gave me a great reading too, not open ended at all in nature. She predicted my brothers severe knee injury would happen within days (it did), she predicted a work promotion that would move me from Scotland, and the circumstances in which i would meet my partner, which was unusual.

For the most part when i do happen to go and have a reading done it's part entertainment and partly for focus, so no doubt there are occassions when there is a 'self fulfilling prophecy' aspect. But there have been things that have blown me away so at the end of the day, i believe in it, but there aren't alot of people that are good at it so each experiences varies.
 
I guess we'll see how good Zoe is in about a month's time then James because back in March she predicted an Adelaide/Geelong Grand Final this year.
