Not officially chosen teams, so either should be removed, or placed in a "media teams" section in the Guide. And as a number of you probably know, the Sporting Life magazine during these years also chose annual "All Australian" teams for soccer, rugby league and rugby union.
The Guide should also have the 1980 and 1988 teams in the Carnival section, not the year-by-year "National" section.

When The Encyclopedia of League Footballers was first published in 1991, the publishers named their Five Greatest Living Footballers at a public book launch. Ted Whitten was ranked number one, Leigh Matthews number two, followed by the three surviving triple-Brownlow medallists Dick Reynolds, Bob Skilton and Ian Stewart. Does anybody recall this event or have knowledge on the exact rankings of the medallists? (I have named them alphabetically).

Been keeping some links to newspaper articles that talk about best players as I research the podcast. Have a vague plan to collate the players listed by decade at some point. I would argue that many of the "Best Players" of all time lists tend to suffer from "recency effect", favouring players that were around or in recent memory of whoever is collating the list.
We can't go back in time to look at players of the past, especially before the TV era but we can look at who was rated by the commentators of the time and give consideration to their opinions, which will have the same issue of bias and recency effect as any list collated today.
