So because Trent's gone it's all over? I agree we can't cover Hentch but if Welsh steps up, Perrie hits form and Roo gets his body right, we can still have a deadly forward line.

Rutten is fine, he has beaten more opponents this year. Johncock and Bassett are always consistent and doing a fine job in defence. Hart will retire at the end of the year and Bock just needs to work on his disposal and he will get back firing (Thompson I also must add needs work on his disposal as well)

If we can get Macca back in the midfield and make it a Simon, Tyson, Macca trio then that could do some serious damage come finals time. Not to mention Roo could have a run in the centre at some stage. Shirley and Mattner are both fine players and have room for improvement.

Don't write us off until we actually get beaten in the finals.

I know for a fact Roo’s body is absolutely in tatters, he’s playing on sheer love for the game and the AFC. If he plays in the middle then it would be a minor miracle because he’s no where near fit enough to be able to play there. Unfortunately I am not counting on Roo to have any impact at all purely because his body is just a mess.

What we need is an ace up our sleeve. A Shane Ellen. It may have to come from outside our line up. Something nobody is expecting, before today I would have considered throwing Fred up forward. Hard to match up on, only downside would be our loss in defence. We need one, we will have one, but what it is is anyones guess.

We need to cut our losses and put him up forward, rotating into the midfield. He is great at finding the ball, I feel the pressure is getting to him in the backlines. It's certainly better than the two options, drop him, and let him get killed in the defensive 50 like he did today etc.

You ALL know the saying - it ain't over til the fat lady sings... and she isn't even warming up yet people !! Sure they're performance has been well below par the last 5 weeks but i sure as hell hope the players have a better attitude than some of the supporters, otherwise we may as well all start planning holidays for our september weekends now!!!!

I can't believe how quickly you guys are jumping off.

You had a top 2 spot sewn up a while back. From that point the next game that mattered was always going to be the first final.

If you win in week 1, what significance will losing today's Showdown have?

I remember last year, when WC lost 4 of their last 6 games going into the finals. We got belted by Geelong and the Bulldogs and we looked like we were shot.

But guess what? As soon as we won that first final, those H&A losses counted for SFA.

You're going to be playing at AAMI in week 1.

No H&A results will effect the result of that match.

Mate don't get me wrong, form is not my concern. My concern lies elsewhere.

Our injury list is increasing at a rapid rate. We are losing the players that we could least afford to lose. We have SO many key players underdone. That is my concern. Form can be lost quickly and can be recovered quickly. Thats not my concern but when you look at it this way

Bassett - injured and underdone
Hudson - our best ruckman, I don't expect him to play this year but if he does, then he is severely underdone
Torney - also severely underdone and expecting him to replace once again injured Hart
McGregor - injured and underdone
Welsh - underdone
Perrie - underdone
Burton - gone for the year
Ricciuto - underdone
Ben Hart - injured and underdone. Missed too much footy
Hentschel - done for the season.
Bock - severely under done.

Those are all players who are in best 22. Even their possible replacements in the side are either injured or underdone.

Also some players have been struggling whole year but are getting the game because there is no one better.

If we make the prelim, it will be a miracle IMHO.

Problem is, our gameplan has been worked out and Craig seems clueless in response.

Then add in the serious injuries...

Maybe have a look at the mid field rotations. There has been plenty of experimenting with them over the last month. Some have clearly failed, some have clearly worked. We are in an excellent position to try a few things, these chances do not come along often. Time will tell if the have helped us or not.

Guys, I agree that it looks pretty bad!
I lost a packet on today's game and am also not real optimistic about our short term future.
BUT footy is a funny game this way and how many times have each of us seen things change very very suddenly? in both directions.
As always its a 2 horse race and no result is certain.
Don't give up on them until they are out!
