Perth WCE?

In a thread on the main board, Timelord mentioned a trivia night during which the question was asked "What is the full name of West Coast?" (when it joined the VFL)

The alleged answer was "Perth West Coast Eagles", but I have absolutely never heard the club referred to like that in any capacity. Anyone got a thought on where this answer might have come from? Or should I feel free to declare his quiz night a load of bollocks?

To my knowledge it was NEVER the PWCE, the point of it BEING the WCE was to be representing the WHOLE WCE not Perth primarily then the rest. Write to the club then post the response as proof when u call it a shambles

Never have I heard the Eagles referred to as the Perth West Coast Eagles. I think that quiz is a load of bs.

I know that many years back there was talk of changing the name from West Coast Eagles to Perth Eagles, but nothing ever came of that

I don't remember much of our early years but I do remember when the team was announced. It has always been the West Coast Eagles.

I beleive the club had/has the name "Perth Eagles " registered as some sort of backup in case they were ever forced to change it. I can't recall the club ever being referred to as the Perth West Coast Eagles.

After all, there's nothing worse than announcing your club's new name, only to discover that someone's already using it to sell pants.

Technically, we'd be Indian Pacific Ltd t/a the West Coast Eagles Football Club, wouldn't we?

I was watching some golf tournament in the US the other day, and I never realized how many Docker supporters there were over there

"The WAFL had no problem selecting the name Eagles for the new club. After all, the wedge-tailed eagle is a WA bird of prey and was a most appropriate choice. West Coast was selected because the name represented the whole of WA and not just Perth."

I think we can officially condemn Timelord's quiz night to the category of "Bollocks".

Timelord's source has confirmed that he got his info straight from the AFL...and I have just received an email reply from one A. Barich at 6PR Sport who thinks that this is indeed true, and we were the Perth West Coast Eagles at some point.
